As someone who just turned 35 in November and was feeling like she was too old to pursue an adventure like teaching english abroad, you made me feel so much better about the idea! I have dealt with a lot of loss, trauma and unhappiness both in life and career (US nurse, so I had my own nightmares during COVID) for the last few years and I just need a CHANGE. I need to feel joy and excitement for life again, and I used to have the biggest travel bug, but a small voice in my head kept saying "you're too old to consider doing this now, you should've done it in your 20s", so I think that maybe I was meant to see this video

Hi Aleese, I just turned 33 and I also just moved to NYC from Palmy, New Zealand, I also followed you on Instagram..❤ your story really resonates me and it made me wonder if I should keep on looking for other job opportunities or just keep it for another year or two .. honestly coming to the U.S. is a big culture shock to me and I am still adjusting.. I am inches my way to the mid 30 and I just want find a place/job where I feel comfortable. Also I don’t wanna be a quitter so I might just stay and try to work hard for a year or two and see how it goes Really like your content and keep up with the good work ❤

PS It sounds like you communicate really well with your family! I stayed in China (back then I was in a small town outside Hangzhou) during the pandemic and my people were NOT happy about it, but I had the same reasons!! My paycheck was never interrupted and I’m a homebody, anyways 😂

@@jafaiyan1276 I know immigration has taken a toll but when we first visited Guangzhou in 2014, there was a place called Dengfeng district literally called " Little Africa" packed with Africans, the shop keepers said the number was over 100k at that time. I was shocked I hadn't expected to see that many Africans in China. I'm sure the number is less now because of C 1 9 but in 2019 Dengfeng was still filled with Africans but this is population counting by non Asian standards.

@@Sthefaany well I’m not trying to discourage you, I’d love to see more foreigners come to China. But based on my own pity little understanding, to do such jobs you need to be extremely fluent with Chinese, and when I mean fluent I mean even better than 星悦, the youtuber @pkulila5658. She is the foreigner I know on KZbin or social media who speaks mandarin the best. Ah I just remembered a Russian girl in THU who is better than Lila, she speaks like a native and even understands ancient Chinese. You may need to be as good as that and it’s not so easy.

BTW, in China, we were taught by some China-haters who now got revealed now that Americans (idk if you were American, just impolitely assuming) are very independent when we were young lol

i think africans would be interested if you interviewed chinese small farmers, who raise chickens, pigs, cows, goats, fertilizer, etc... This would be beneficial. Also, vietnam and thailand. Plus use of drones for midsize and large farms. cheers.
