I get the vertical aspects. It's just an oversized drone. I don't see anything in its design when pivoted 90 degrees and flying horizontally that would create enough aerodynamic lift to keep it in the air flying and any speed less than warp. If successful test flights have been made since '19 (regardless of vehicle size) you'd think it would be part of their presentation.

Eh, glide ratio isn’t that big of a deal on electric multi prop aircraft. Electric motors are an order of magnitude more reliable than jets (which are themselves quite more reliable than piston engines) and if you happen to roll several nat 1s in a row and a motor does go out, you still have six motors to land on (you have to shut off the opposite motor to the failed motor) That being said, I bet you will need a pilot’s license, there’s no way the FAA will let you crowd the airspace with that large of a vehicle & not have a license.
@BlueEyed888

I wouldn’t even call it an elaborate investor scam, that would be giving it a compliment. I mean if you have even the most rudimentary concept of aeronautics, avionics, necessary FAA certification, dynamic lift, battery power to weight ratios, etc, you can easily see it’s a joke. HAHA.

So they're getting FAA approval, but what about the body that approves car designs? This design probably doesn't have a lot of standard safety features that makes cars safer in collisions, like crumple zones, body strength, and airbags. Such things would quickly add on weight. Will it pass?
@PotassiumLover

I hope that they continue being innovative, but driving a car at high speeds are already dangerous as it is. But a flying car? What happens if it runs out of battery or malfunctions? is going to float? and what are the chances of survival if you crash from the air inside this thing? and just imaging you just chilling driving a normal car, then all of a sudden, a car from the air just happened to crash on you. A lot of questions needs to be addressed. I hope they don't just hype this up too much. we're going to need to make new safety regulations as well as traffic regulations before this becomes public. Needless to say, a lot of adjustment to our current traffic and safety standard is going to happen first.
@willhen50

There is the one factor to consider, when converting this car to its flying ability, especially when driving in heavy traffic, and that is the possibility of the accident(s) that will occur when other drivers are DISTRACTED, by a flying car and take their eyes off the road or the car(s) in front of them.
@pedroz3891

With its speed limitations and and height limitations and flight time limitations its actually just a big drone that can drive. Realistically you could already operate it with a FAA drone operators license in certain areas. Eventually, if it incorporates the advanced autopilot will, which is much simpler than self driving tech, a regular DOL will be all that's needed in residential and commercial areas too. It's actually a great idea.

So essentially this is carrying around 2 propellers under that mesh as it drives around on roads. Bumps, rocks, mud, water, etc hitting them constantly. If they're covered with some sort of retractable cover, that adds to the complexity and points of failure. Damage to propellers are a death warrant to a flying machine such as this. Of course they have thought this through - they've had 8 years as they say. I hope.

Imagine if somebody just runs into this car, $300k worth of pieces will splatter on the ground. Heck, you'll be safer in the air than on the ground, this car does NOT look all that sturdy at all.

Why does the FAA gave the green light for this without an actual prototype demonstration

I’d wait till 2035, to pay the 35k for that model with up to four seats. Price will drop from 300k to 3k in less than nine years.

Whose going to pay 300,000$, and then go get stuck in traffic?

Flying cars are nice hut theres so many hazards to think about. I think it should be mainly used to just get out of traffic and once out of traffic it should be back on the ground. Also limit its ability on how high could go so if you do fall it wont be too bad.

I mean they will have to have safety, like planes, with parachute in case of a mid-air crash and and stuff, and if it will be safety, it will save a lot of energy

Do the crash dummy thingy where they show traffic collision simulation!!! I rock with the FAA but a car is not real unless it wins a J.D Power & Associates award for something. So yeah... It's not worth $300,000 yet.

There are a few flaws in this project, and even in the concept itself. The biggest issue is the use of electrical energy. Today's batteries are too heavy, and considering the design of this car, the only place where they can and should be installed is the driver's cabin, in its lower part. There isn't much space there, so the range will be very limited, not to mention the speed. Crash test - I don't know how this car would pass crash tests since, due to its lightweight construction, very expensive materials would be required to meet the standards in case of a ground accident. Demand - Currently, I don't see any demand for such cars due to their significant drawbacks. It's not profitable to produce them for the average citizen, which effectively nullifies the argument about relieving ground traffic. Today, flying trucks would be much more useful than flying cars.

Can I install a roof racks and tow bar? So next time I’m going to BPW I can just land on the top and ride 3:10 straight down 💪💪😂

At least won't have to replace any tyres. Instead of road tax, may be charged aviation tax. Also no traffic lights up there.

Governments will outlaw taking off/landing in traffic. we got people in this world that cannot drive on a road, you want them to get into a flying car? Though cool as well as nice design I really hope to see flying cars in my lifetime.

it depends on weather or not it really exist. so far there is no real footage of the actual thing. everything presented is a bunch of CGI. I like cartoons just like anyone else but when it comes to some real things being claimed to be real, I need to see the real thing.
