Crowley left behind a significant body of work including poetry, essays, and books that are still highly sought after and have been the subjects of academic studies. His first editions still sell for thousands of dollars in some cases. He was a world record-setting mountaineer and became a notable painter in midlife. He's also a pop culture legend despite having been part of my second great-grandparents' generation. But some KZbin commenters think he's a "total loser"! OK.

Crowley’s theory on “STARS” sounds a lot like Hinduisms, Adveita Vedanta (Non-Duality), except it’s only ONE Supreme Reality, BRAHMAN🕉️ who is projecting itself as Everyone and Everything, known as ATMAN🕉️.
@Entelecheia5 ай бұрын
That is basically how I understand the relationship between Thelema and Advaita as well. Each star is one supreme reality. but there is no star of stars to which they all belong. Or if there is, it serves no explanatory purpose. See the New Comment on AL I.3 and on I.52. Crowley incorporates the practice of samadhi without necessarily embracing the metaphysical conclusions of the types of monism that result from the universal application of the principle of sufficient reason.
@apassagebeyond1085 ай бұрын
@@Entelecheia in AV there is Only One, which is BRAHMAN🕉️ and everything exists within it or is a projection of BRAHMAN. Hence the term Non-Duality, only One. So that’s the difference between the two ideas. In the sense that we are all Aspects of or Reflections of that One Supreme being, then yes we are supreme beings, but we are not as individuals THE Supreme Being. If everyone was the supreme being it would diminish or negate the term supreme and we would all simply be beings. It’s like having a contest and declaring everyone the winner, well that negates what an actual winner of a contest is, and we all just become recipients of a meaningless title. I tend to agree w/ AV (not Neo-Advaita, but classic Advaita Vedanta - that there is only One Supreme Being and that is BRAHMAM🕉️ but that we are all reflections of that being, known as ATMAN🕉️.

Crowley said a lot of truth, but he didn’t realize a lot of things about the evolution of consciousness and how they relate to “Heaven” (top-down creation - ruled by CLAIMS) and “Hell” (bottom-up creation - ruled by CONTESTS). Love Under Will is the same as saying “Might Makes Right,” ultimately, POWER was Crowley’s only law and his master. This is the philosophy of the “God of War, who sits at the top of Hell.
