I have read several Crowley biographies, Kaczynski and Churton are the only ones worth reading. The rest are all B.S. ... Reading Crowley with an open mind will help one find answers, but bear in mind that Crowley didn't answer one's questions all in one place. I had to read all Crowley's nonfiction before I found where he said the True Will resides in the Unconscious Mind, and other tidbits of wisdom. ... Also, try to read Crowley's nonfiction in the order he wrote it. He did change his mind on some issues over time.

Great video, really solidified my understanding of things in Thelema that I’ve heard about but never fully understood like 0 = 2 even tho I’ve been a Thelemite for 2 years now. Can you do a video or do you have one about what Nuit Hadit and Rah hoor Kuit each represent? I understand Nuit now fully but the other two are more fuzzy.

"I know someone who thinks that Crowley taught that there is only one consciousness ... and so I am in effect speaking to myself right now and because of this we should all be nice to one another." I've been thinking about this, and isn't it in some sense true? In that every Star contains within itself every other Star, so you are a part of me, and then even the ethical implications of that are somewhat echoed by Crowley when he says: "Interference with the will of another is the great sin, for it predicates the existence of another. In this duality sorrow consists." - Old Comment I:41 Maybe not the part of being nice for its own sake, but atleast the monistic perspective and the principle of non-interference which stems from it.

"It is not true to say either that we are separate Stars, or One Star. Each Star is individual, yet each is bound to the others by Law. This Freedom under Law is one of the most difficult yet important doctrines of this Book. So too the ritual -- our lives -- must be unto Nuith; for She is the Ultimate to which we tend, the asymptote of our curve. Failure in this one-pointedness sets up the illusion of duality, which leads to excision and destruction." (New Comment on AL I.52)

@@Entelecheia Fair enough, you're right that the concept of one consciousness would be in fact be incorrect as there are a plurality of Monads. But is it not also true that every Star is a totality in of itself and contains everything, including other Stars, within it? This is is more the idea I was getting at in my original comment, that while every Star is individual and unique, it is a monistic consciousness, and that includes people outside of the ego we are incarnated into and currently experiencing. I'm reminded of your article on Indra's Net and the idea of Panta-en-pasin, or all things are in all things. And further, there is again the ethical injunction to not interfere with the will of another, at least in part because they make up a portion of the self: "Abstain from all interferences with other wills. “Beware lest any force another, King against King!” [AL II:24] (The love and war in the previous injunctions are of the nature of sport, where one respects, and learns from the opponent, but never interferes with him, outside the actual game.) To seek to dominate or influence another is to seek to deform or to destroy him; and he is a necessary part of one's own Universe, that is, of one's self." (Duty A.3)

Right. If it's actually "profit" you're seeking just stop now. The system has it's own process to raise one's Self to the forefront. It maybe that Profit is what your soul hungers for. If that's the case then far be it from any system to hold you back or assist you forward. Interesting video in any case!

I’ve appreciated how taking steps into Thelema and working toward understanding my True Will have helped me contextualize my relationships and my daily activities. It’s been good to remember that while those are all important and supportive there is ultimately something else that is deep, intimate, and internal to me that I should also be driving to understand and connect with.

An example of frustration I went through recently and could have used Meta-Okayness: Yesterday morning I was on a Latin TV show modeling swim wear. When it came my time in front of the cameras I stiffened up and got in my head over analyzing how to look. I could have been “okay” with this feeling of stage freight and separated myself from it. But unfortunately, I sunk into that feeling yesterday and dwelled upon on it.

No, maybe something more like the Witness from Buddhist tradition? Meta-okayness is not complete and total aloofness from life but rather the ability to hold all of our experiences in luminous, unbounded awareness.

The key for me has seemed to be that sense of a mystical marriage and the possibilities of deepening that relationship. And that is based on personal experience tho the intellect helps one to understand and identify it. If someone without any sense of that starts thinking along non-dual lines and views life like a game they may suppress their emotions it seems to me. Not that positives couldnt come from that sort of thought exercise. But for me I may get quite emotional initially while a deeper perspective is there as well (or settles in fairly quickly). I may still be emotional (Ive burst out laughing before too) but there is insight and meaning. There is a shift in how one experiences an event/situation. But it doesnt really come from an intellectual place for me. It just comes because thats the way in which Ive come to perceive life generally, based on my experiences and how I perceive them. You could program yourself to think that way but that Lover is only an idea until its experienced and felt. Only then would it strongly effect us.

This is something I experienced, just this week. Here in America we had our Presidential sElections, and a lot of people in my family, and people around, were profoundly Rocked by the Outcome. Even though the candidate I voted for didn't succeed, I already kinda saw it coming, or at least prepared myself for the situation. I could see that this was a disappointing experience for a lot of people, but my Emotions and my senses remained, almost entirely, unaffected. Fear is failure, and the forerunner of failure. -93/93

In my experience it takes you out of your POV which is often overrun with emotions. With that different POV I am able to see everything clearer. I am able to ask questions like: what's the problem, what triggered the emotions, can I find a solution to the problem, does this situation really need these emotions or can I transmute them. And then I can go on to sort the problem or sometimes accept that there is nothing I can do right now. Jordan Peterson has a similar approach: treat yourself like someone you are responsible helping for.
@Entelecheia
@Entelecheia Ай бұрын
You may want to start with meditations where you learn to identify (name) emotions as they arise in the body. With that foundation in place, you would then learn to track thoughts as they arise and to see the connections between those thoughts and the emotions as they arise. This will help expand your awareness of feelings and desires in real-time.

I love your content. You make Thelemic concepts much easier to understand. I often find that Thelemite content creators on YT, though really great and influential people, leave me wondering what the hell they were talking about at the end of the video. It's kinda like, "'Tree' means this tall, leafy boi right here. Birds and squirrels like to sit in them, and they're pretty. BUT... it's really up to individual interpretation. It could also be a symbol for your boob chakra." Like, why is many book if mean NOTHING??? You take a stand on things without being dogmatic. I learn a lot from your vids. Keep it coming. If I recall Jung talked in the Red Book about meeting an inner figure like this and I think it's basic point was "you are so serious and intellectual you suck all joy out of life" (not an actual quote). I also found it interesting that in the dialogue the devil figure seemed to be starting to understand him (his ego at least) as much as he was getting to know it.

Crowley challenges us to open our minds to understand things from alternative perspectives. The “Devil”, a personification of evil, can also be thought of as a teacher of wisdom. There are two ways to learn and the Devil represents the hard way.
