This is called a roll pin. It is designed to be the point of failure. If you "beef it up", you risk breaking other parts that you will not be able to replace, specifically the worm gears.

With the roll pin shearing that indicates your gate opener is working over its maximum rating. Have you checked your gate wheels or anything that would prevent your gate from rolling freely?

thanks for the Video . the gear is a " worm gear " and that is a " shear pin " , designed to shear before anything breaks . Nice video BTW

Please indicate what could be the problem. My motor doesn't respond the remote control. I have to unlock manually. The batteries are new.

Thank you for the video! It tells me that my be I have the same problem too. My gate sometimes does not open, not all the times, and if it open the first time, it will open and close after that for a while but it may or may not open the next day! As you said, it skips and works randomly! Appreciate if you share anything else you can think of with us!

Kory, the problem you are describing is common... I have had to replace my control board twice when this happens. You can hear the beeping coming from the board when you press the remote but the motor is never engaged. I have 2 boards misbehaving and have not been able to troubleshoot the problem. The boards power on and seem to recognize the remote commands, just no power to the motor.

have you had to repair it? i may have to do the same as im experiencing same issues. gate works normally if i help push it open. definitely not the board. Wonder where i can get that size shear pins
