@@dzimikes true but he did a PHD thesis and revolutionized the theory of the move to a science . Never a better wrestler to employ the technique where it was as close to impossible to prevent him using it against his opponents. Nobody in the history of the sport had accomplished a signature move that another high level athlete couldn’t counter. His power and ability combined with a intelligent mind had never before nor post his retirement has even been on a level of that full package in the sport. It’s honestly not even debatable.

In every story of Matt Lindland he comes of like a really nice guy! Being a guest in a foreign country and breaking your opponents thumb in an illegal move, classy. Or like the time he knocked his elbow into the teeth of a cuban opponent in a wrestling match that he was losing. Or that he did not shower before his mma fights to be more smelly. Though we have to keep in mind that Chael might be biased and that he makes Matt appear nicer than he actually is. But still he sounds like a great person. :-)

Chael told the story of the guy who drove to Lindland's gym to fight him (there is footage on youtube). I guess Lindland and the other guy were supposed to fight but the guy works as a roofer and fell of a ladder and hurt his back, so Lindland still goes to the fight and tells the whole audience that the guy was a wuss and basically disrespects him even though he is injured and not there to defend himself.

Replace the Karelin Cup with some piss fuck tourney from a quarter century back in a gully in Bangalore, and this was me, my coach, and two of my training buddies hiding away in a dusty godown, while the rival coach (and turf leader and childhood friend of my coach) eventually negotiated our way out of their hood. Being a former wrestler myself, I can attest that sometimes, completely unintentionally, fingers and limbs can be broken, sprained, etc. It can happen anytime. Errrmaguurrrrd. I WISH Uncle Chael knew me. I wish this so that i could hear one of the best stories ever told about myself, that i had no idea was even interesting or worth listening to, until told by Uncle Chael himself. My favorite video to date is still the "I have nothing to say" video, in which he talks for almost 10 minutes about not having anything to talk about. Master Story Teller. Master Troll(sometimes).
