Reminds me of a story a coworker told me about his grandfather who raised him. The man was a boxing champion in the navy. Coworker said he never saw his grandfather lose a fight, one of the strongest and baddest men he ever knew. One day he was in an altercation with a neighbor which led to a fist fight in which the grandfather got his ass whipped. My coworker said his grandfather stewed over the loss for days. One day the grandfather went across the street and knocked on the neighbors door, said he wanted to try again, they went to the neighbors back yard, the grandfather again lost, stood up, shook the man's hand and said " I just needed to know", and that was that.
@haroldharryhugh3672 жыл бұрын
The grandad should have tried more ten times to be certain. One guy I knew went 0-89 without a win. Yes he lost 89 of his fights but he wasn't bothered because He thought to himself his opponents were not tough enough to kill him if they did they should have killed him. Despite bad jokes about his lack of ability to fight he eventually oh yes got better and became ferocious and vicious He maimed 30 of his previous conquerors badly. Sadly He became nasty and violent man. He avenged all of his 89 loss plus some. He went unbeaten for long time before the the bullet ended his weird career . Like Chael said no man is tougher than the next man.

The "Toughest guy I know" is a right of passage that all fighters experience. Every fighter has a "Toughest guy I know" story. For me, it was my instructor who taught me from a very early age. From a kid's perspective, he was a monster. Many years later, as he was on the down slope and I was literally at my physical and technical peak, we sparred and the experience shattered the illusion. He wasn't a monster at all, but he was a great teacher. The point being, we all have those moments in our journey where an individual impresses us to the point of awe. That moment lives on in our memory and grows as time passes. The "Toughest guy I know" is always the guy who was what you wanted to be.

I used to live a mile from Mark Shultz. I bagged his groceries all the time when I was 15 and worked at Albertson's. I remember telling all my coworkers he was a UFC fighter, but nobody even knew what UFC was back then. Anyway, Mark's probably the toughest guy I ever met too.
@BenchPressManiac2 жыл бұрын
Why would you mention the UFC? He fought only once. If anything, you should have mentioned he was a world champion and freestyle wrestling gold medal winner.
@zibtihaj32132 жыл бұрын
And I don’t think he was a UFC champ …. Something shady about his story ..

One of the toughest guys I met was a guy named Rick N. at my old Karate dojo in Hemet, CA. He was about 6'4" and about 300lbs but could kick at head height and wasn't really fat but wasn't really skinny (thick). He feared no one and would tell stories all the time about his street encounters, past and present. He wore glasses and had a red beard and hair. I think most people wouldn't see him as a "tough guy" but if you did decide to try him, you would be in a WORLD of hurt! Lol My Karate Sensei told a story of Rick's Black Belt test and having to fight / spar like 3-4 guys at once. Rick manhandled all of them, almost throwing one guy through a wall. One of the head Sensei's conducting the test remarked, "I think this guy has done this stuff for real before!" Lol

@@josiffexplosiff1 If I was lying I would just say Les Gutches was my coach but he was like a celebrity in Southern Oregon so the only time I saw him was at the wrestling camp he was running for a week. My coach was his uncle who was still pretty bad ass and mean. I knew his son's Bryson and Brock. Bryson is one of the best wrestlers I've met besides maybe Juan Archuleta. Brock who was a little kid ended up being a super successful wrestler.
@zeaferjones14045 жыл бұрын
@@eeooooee2234 I have wrestled my whole life all around the west coast. I've met a lot of people that ended up being great like Tatiana Suarez and Juan Archuleta for example. That is why I want to be a journalist in MMA. I feel like so many of my old friends and rivals are in the UFC or some other big organization and I know more about them then most people do.

like most dad's mine was like superman when i was young, well to me he was. I never quite knew how true that would be . My dad is in his 70's now and still runs around like a 50yr old but he's started to chill out a bit now . So i've meet a lot of guys that talk about my old man and of his many battles (you would'nt think this if you meet him ) and the strength he possessed i knew Dad was hard man but did'nt know he was the one that people would go to to sought out local bullies or so called tough guys my unlce told me that he'd take on two-three guys with ease and have them down in seconds and others saying that dad was a absolute power house the list go'es on ( forgot where i was going with this)......he trained through the 70's and 80's give it all up to raise my siblings and i he is the most humble dude and funny to think people still talk about him.
