Unfortunately, many haters and racists will say that he was roided up, or that he went through torturous training, but if that were true, then he would not have as many hobbies as he did (he was interested in literature and maths, and wrote academic papers on sports), and he would not have been so nice, calm and generous.

Obviously he probaably wouldn't be the best at it, as he was training something else his entire life, but look at it the other way around - would the best MMA fighter at the time be able to beat him in a wrestling match? Don't think so. More, put a fighter like Joshua in a cage with whoever is the best atm, and he's gonna get his ass whooped most likely (but he is not without a chance as MMa involves boxing) but do it the other way around and it's a totally different story. Comparisons like that are pointless.

Collegiate and freestyle wrestling are the easiest to transition to MMA with. Karelin was greco-roman. Not saying he couldn't have been a great fighter (Dan Severn was greco-roman of course) but it's an utterly different style that doesn't have the obvious combat applications collegiate does.

bleep blop Being heavy or light doesn’t mean jack shit in a sport like wrestling that’s the beauty of it that there are wrestlers of all shapes and sizes but as long as you put in the hard work it’ll pay off in the mat I once saw this skinny little Asian boy 100 pounds but that boy could wrestle also I’m a big guy but I struggled a lot my freshman and sophomore years mostly because I was 205 pounds in the 220 weight class it wasn’t until junior year that I got decent and I sometimes bump up weight to the heavyweight class in which I wrestle a guy that like 6’2 250 pounds and I pin his ass only weighting 215 pounds point is size, strength, and weight doesn’t mean anything all you need is massive amounts of technique and the heart of a lion
