@8.54 That's totally bogus info, dude. That is NOT the correct AR for mug designs. I wasted hours before I actually checked the output against the required size on printify (2475 x 1155). Try dividing those by 293 and 151 respectively yourself and see what you get. If it's not a whole number then it's WRONG! I had quite a bit of trouble working out the real AR myself as none of the online ratio calculators were any help, but I got there. But just for that, I'm not going to tell you what it is! ;) Even tho it's my own fault for taking some guy on YT's word for it, and for not checking sooner! Lesson learned! ;) (Edit) P.S. Where on earth did you get the 293:151 from? Someone was having you on! ^^

To make a profit of $100k only by selling mugs means that you will need to sell around 40k-60k mugs (if you don't have your own print studio and the knowledge needed to produce a quality print for a reasonable price). To sell one mug you will need an average of 40-80 views on your listing, 60 x 50 000 = 3M. The first thing you need to ask yourself is how are you going to bring those 3 million people to your store organically in order to make this 100k of profit. I have been selling on Etsy for 3 years already and trust me guys it's not that easy :P

It's REALLY important to note that they're NOT personally "making" $21,613 per month - that's just TOP-LINE revenue (gross sales). The cost of POD items like mugs has gone up a lot recently and at very best they're maybe making HALF of that in actual net income - as long as they're not also advertising to get noticed and get customers, which a LOT of these high revenue shops actually are, so then the bottom-line/net income is MUCH less. Then you have MidJourney subscription and maybe other fees along the way.... $21,613 per month is still great and I love the overall concept of this video, BUT it actually takes a LOT of trial and error time to find winning designs generally AND the numbers in this (and MOST other similar videos) definitely gives people an incredibly false expectation of how easy it is and, particularly, how much money they can make with this.... Other than all that, this is a SUPER helpful video :)

I agree …cool idea in theory but to test the amount of designs for mugs sounds like a lot of time. He said to make as many designs as possible too. So it would take a lot of time to make all of them and then hoping a design hits.

Some I see NO ONE mentioning is that even tools like Everbee do NOT calculate sales at all! So there are stores that Everbee will report are making $5,000 a month when they have an ongoing 50% (some are 70%!!) off sales which cuts their gross income in half right there. Then none of the tools report the advertising budgets. Who has any idea what these stores are actually netting after advertising and taxes once you actually look at the listing and see the sales price. It kinds of sucks because at the end of the day you can see what's "popular" by number of sales, but the reality might be someone with less than half the sales is making twice as much net income than one of these Everbee top sellers.

I was very excited when I saw this as everything seemed attainable. However 5 months, nearly 50 listings in, paying for Etsy ads and IG ads, I have 0 sales. I think a key part that you forgot to mention is one does need a certain level of design skills or at least an eye for design. AI is great at spitting designs but it lacks originality and finesses and those are things people instantly and unknowingly look for when they see items. The other thing is the competition, there are thousands of similar shops with similar-looking designs. You can actually tell when a design is made by AI and when it's not. Sad to say but Im going to stop continuing on this and the amount of hours I put in this will equate to a sunk cost.

As someone who has been using MidJourney for a month and tried out numerous images from photography style to watercolor, to hd, to cutesy, etc., I just want to encourage people to really edit your final image before uploading. What I have encountered is that as of today, MidJourney A.I. has some flaws with rendering human, animal and insect anatomy correctly. You may get weird hands, extra fingers on humans. A butterfly with a floppy torn wing. A cute watercolor raccoon with a strange paw. I have noticed that people are throwing A.I. images up on Etsy for digital downloads and not editing the image. I was hoping to create Mockups on MidJourney, but until it gets better with detail, especially Humans, I am holding off on that.

Excellent ideas and got my creative juices flowing with how you can leverage AI to make some extra cash online. I agree with other posts though who have a bit more real-world experience - selling online isn't a piece of cake. It's not an "Easy Side Hustle" (massive LOL). I have been doing it for 7+ years (Amazon, Ebay, Etsy). It's not difficult to earn "100k" in a year but let's be transparent - that's GROSS revenue. Assume you're going to making very thin margins on PoD. Something like 25-30% if you're really good at leveraging your marketing dollars because you're going to need to feed the advertising beasts on any of those selling platforms. Doing the math, that's about $6k net per month (still not bad for a "side hustle"). Let me also tell you some stories about this "easy side hustle" I started over 7 years ago. I ended up working MORE hours each week than I did in my "9-5 job" ... because ... it was a "easy side hustle" (again, Huge LOL). Dealing with algorithms, changes in selling rules, etc. Big massive PITA. Then don't get me started on all the supplier issues during C-v*d. And customer service. Returns. I mean, this is a business afterall, and you have to expect to do some work to make money. THERE IS NOTHING PASSIVE ABOUT THIS AT ALL. If you want a TRUE passive income - try investing. ✌

The real money to be made is in creating Etsy videos about super short term exaggerated profits. I noticed that most of these videos were made by people with already established (2 to 4 years) etsy shops. Like all algorithms it requires almost daily feeding to rank at even low to mid level in etsy search results. By the time any of these niche videos are uploaded, the niche has been covered, flooded. Thanks for the video. It was informative. Unfortunately some creators love to add all sorts of bombastic titles that can be misleading. I (and I might be wrong on this) don't think this is an easy side hustle because it can take a lot of work. And I don't think you make $21.000 monthly after all expenses paid. I would rather it said "make $4000 with 200 hours of work selling AI mugs" or something. But there's a lot of good stuff in the video so thanks, Alek

Alek, you run through every important detail to get this going, it's amazing man! Near the end of the video you mentioned how you made your first $100k online, it wasn't easy, and it was months of very long days. I needed to hear that, a truthful comment of the struggle. I opened my store in April, I've done a lot of research (other shops, what they're doing, trending products, Everbee stats on products, tags etc). I spent weeks designing my first 15 products, making them different, while adding value. My store is professional, it's clean, the mock ups are high end (purchased from Etsy also). I'm happy with my shop, but I haven't made a single sale yet. I know it's going to be a tough road, and hearing your viewpoint, and watching your videos is giving me that boost of motivation I need right now. Thanks man!!

Here he only looks at Revenue ($33 per mug + 1,000 mugs sold = $33,000). Just remember Revenue (total amount you sell) is not the same as Profit (total amount you get to keep AFTER deducting ALL expenses). I would guess all the expenses (mugs, delivery, Etsy commission, ads, subscriptions to apps used…) may be 70%, so Profit is only 30% of your revenue = $9,000. But what if it’s 90% expenses? This an crucial aspect he neglects to mention.

Printify will charge SELLER'S CREDIT CARD for all the shipment and print, it doesn't wait for customer to pay seller , that's sellers' repsonsibility to actually get paid. This is huge downside since size of your funds or credit determines how much you can sell. you technically are bying form Printify first and then getting paid (or not) by the buyer. printify doesn't process your payments.

Here is the dealio though that I think is the hardest for people in terms of using Printify and maybe you can discuss this in one of your videos….they will take the costs of production out of your bank account before you have deposited the money from Etsy into your bank account. People need to be aware that they need capital in their bank accounts for this purpose or else they will never be able to get their feet off the ground with printify.

I quickly researched this and the terms of condition on etsy clearly say that you are not allowed to copy another shop's items. If they see your shop is using very similar designs and keywords as already existing shops, I think they might suspend your account. This is of course just my own idea, why etsy might block accounts and it is just a theory without any evidence.

Etsy is taking down ai generated products. It's very easy to spot them because they all look the same. Also AI generated images are not handmade or crafted. It goes against the company's brand. That is why I don't sell my prompts on Etsy nor anything I generate there. Plus, I hope you realize that ai generated images are mostly unusable and the people who would likely use them can also use AI. There's no money in a service or a skill that is easy to pick up. Stop listening to these grifters who have never make or sell or license art in their lives.
@joebashour Жыл бұрын
@@ellenripley4837 I completely agree with your point. I also think those AI generated designs are not appealing anyways as they are not unique. However, I would still encourage entrepreneurs to undergo this type of business. With unique, catchy slogans/designs, there is some great demand sometimes. In a nutshell: NO to ai generated designs. YES to unique designs that do not infringe on others' rights and trademarks. Good luck to all!
