Great work! I had one of the very first VIC20 here in Germany (it was called VC20 here). Ordered mine as soon as it was announced (I learned programming on a PET at that time which we had at school), delivered 9 months later 😊 I was very surprised when I discovered that you can actually do Hi-res(?) graphics by re-defining the character set and switching it to 16-pixel height. Wrote an article about it, which was then published in a german computer magazine. Later, I became a games developer in the UK. Now playing these historic games with very reduced graphics (it's what computers of that time were capable of) was like reading a book. It gives your mind some guidelines, and your imagination does the rest. It's why I loved the text adventure games of that time so much (and went on to write my own). I think today's kids mostly cannot understand what it was about.

Perhaps you did play stargilder 2 and did learn your lesson about the sun that way or did read the story of Icarus....

I never took my VIC-20 very far. I never even used it to call early BBS's. I guess I regret that. I wish I had more memories of it. It's as if I bought it, thought it was dumb, and then got the Commodore 64.
