I agree with Shane - pull the brake lever in and tie it there. Makes a HUGE difference. For the rear. Put it on a stand then pull the brake down and keep it there. Both overnight or at least half a day. It removes entrained air. I don't even lose the cap. There is enough room up there for the air to get to. But it is a good idea. Even a tight bungee will work. Possibly even better as it keeps pulling tighter and tighter against a steady pull. But both work. Try it and let us all know how You like it.

I had the same problem on my exc 2012. But I switched to dot 4.1 and change the oil after around 20 hours. I do the same on my 2017. The symptoms were the same. works just fine now..

Found your channel. Love it. A lot of content in from merica and is moto x orientated. I love your enduro content and bias. New subscriber and new viewer here. Keep on producing for us. I have a vacuum pump for brake bleeding. Works really well as it pulls the brake fluid through. However that little tool looks awesome too.

Ive had a few different KTM's all with stock Brembos and in my experience they are a damn good brake. Only have had to bleed and change fluid one time and the brembos are very strong and firm brakes IDK what you're talking about them being weak?????

Did you try bleeding the brembo brakes before going to nissen masters? My brembos have one bleed on them and the bike has 160 hours on it, they've always been perfect and Rock solid. Btw I have this bleeder but still prefer the reverse bleed method (since bubbles naturally rise up)

Good vídeo!! I personally change the brake fluid from the clamp to the pump to avoid air bubbles, did not you need to purge it by what you see in the video ?. I have the same tool, I have it since I saw it tokyo offroad (very good channel, sure it's good for any kind of doubt, he also has 2017), a greeting from Spain and gas! ✊🏽💨

Even easier method is to break the seal on your master cylinder by simply loosening the screws and lifting the lid approx 1-2mm so air can escape and then pull your brake lever in tight and put a cable tie \ zip strap around your bar and the lever, holding the brakes on tight. Leave it overnight so it can force the air out of the lines by itself. The next day you simply cut the cable tie and screw your master cylinder lid back down tight and you have great brakes. Cost= 1x cable tie

Also these brakes are made to be reverse bled. So you push the fluid in from the caliper bleed nipple up to the master and stop once the air stops. You cant have air in the system doing it that way. And if you're brakes get spongey over time after you get them working good then you have a small air leak letting air into the system..
@SANDS786 жыл бұрын
Strange, got a 2016 and the first thing I noticed was how great the brakes are. I’m only at 22 hours, so hopefully I’m not in for a rude awakening.

The way you do it gets air in the breaking-lines which is not good because it causes break-fading. put the new breaking fluid on top of the old and then flush through thats better. Or get a professional break-bleeding tool for use with pressure for around 20 EUR. BGS for instance makes a nice one.
@EnduroWithAlex6 жыл бұрын
Nope, never had an issue. There's a check valve in the tool so no air goes into the system. :) Those air pressure one's are good for cars but the amount of fluid is so small in a dirt bike.
@muelmanu6 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are usually used for cars but work fine for Motorcycles as well. Hmm okay I get the idea with the check-valve in the tool. so you first pressure the old soup out until only air is in the system and then the new in. Okay thats fine then. I have to admit that I just scrobbled through the video without sound. ;D Thanks for the explanation. Enjoy your times in Brebu Nou with Andy. Too bad I am not there... would have loved to join u guys on the tours.

My 2018 front brake lever goes completely flat if I don’t ride it often. Now a put a zip tie/cable tie on the lever zipped down as hard as it can while parked in the garage. This keeps the air out.
@mxracingunlimitedltd77843 жыл бұрын
Interesting idea.. ive never had an issue with my XCW for years until it sat in the garage for about a month bc the clutch master is starting to leak alittle so i ordered everything for that and the Slave rebuild and the EE slave cylinder gaurd to go with it. Went to go grab the bars and the front brake lever went straight to the bars.. Few weeks ago i was doing stoppies with one finger. Everyone loves the brakes on my ktm who doesn't have one. I just rebuilt the front brake master cylinder with a rebuild kit. Easy and straight forward job just alittle time consuming. Have you considered that your front brake master is prob going bad, letting air in the system very slowly. And the reason it works with the zip tie is because your pushing the plunger inside the master cylinder in further and prob in a spot where its jst not leaking yet. But somewhere, air is getting in the system. Brakes are a closed system. If anything is wrong then there's an issue. It shouldn't change or get worse over time. That's a sign that you have a start of an issue. Look inside the boot for any sign of brake fluid. Also check the caliper for leaks as well.. Rebuilding the brakes on the Brembos just seems like something you have to do every few years if you don't use the bike all that much. I would also suggest not letting your pads get too low before replacing so the caliper pistons arent out so far to get dirty.. Good luck!

Why not pump fluid up from the caliper to the reservoir, like we do on mountain bikes? That way the air is pushed up and out.
