Thanks mate, you're a lifesaver! I sent off my snare about a fortnight ago just out of warranty and tonight my kick drum stopped working. I had a bit of an idea what to do but this video really helped. If only I could solder better.

Awesome video - thanks! Had the exact same issue on Crimson II and used this technique. Worked like a charm. It would trigger sporadically and then finally cut out completely. That must have been when the wires were completely severed. All it cost me was the price of a cheap soldering iron. Replacement kick pad would have been at least $150.
@Underdrummer5 жыл бұрын
Nice technique doing this alone and using the super sticky glue to hold the disc for you. Thank you for taking the time to record, edit and post. I make how-to vids too and I know it adds precious time to the entire project.

I just facilitated a warranty claim on mine, because I was fortunate enough for the issue to arise while still under warranty. I figured if it happened within the first year I'll probably be fixing it myself down the road. Now I'll know what I'm getting into. I'll probably try and protect the wires from the edge somehow when I do. Thanks for the video!
@thewesty1013 жыл бұрын
I see it's been a year since you had to claim warranty. How has the repair held up? I immediately had an issue with volume on my kick trigger, and chalked it up to it being a $500 eKit. Now it's intermittent like my man's here was. Was yours quiet out of the box?

I’ve had my Alesis kit for a few years now and this is exactly how mine is: the thin wires get cut through (clean) after so much playing. Luckily I had your video to show me exactly what to do to remedy my issue. Thank you so much!

Glad I could help out. It wasn't the best video, done on a whim. hopefully I'll have time to do a more thorough video on this issue and a higher quality repair once the next one presents itself. This one had to be finished same day, so no time to order anything.

Thanks so much for this. Couple of months back bought a trigger like this for my Sample Pad Pro. It was a demo version from the local music shop with a 50% discount, didn't try it out until yesterday. Turns out it's not working... Opened it up after finding your video and there it was: the red wire hanging loose from the trigger thing... Hope to be able to fix it soon. Thanks for making it look pretty easy :-) greetings from Holland

My upper pearl tru trac stopped working, looks like the 1/4 female jack is sloppy, is there a certain replacement 1/4 female i can replace it with, seems its on a little board but the board has nothing else on it, its just a neat way to be able to screw it onto the underside of the upper hi hat? Sensor works fine, but only when the cord is hanging partway out of the jack

Thought the same. He Almost got it right. Almost. I was hopeful when he said he'd keep the leads, and shrink tube it. That's what I've done with mine. I expect the crystal to turn to dust before there's another wire issue at the piezo.

Turn your sensitivity up on your module for each individual pad. You can find the sensitivity option under triggers.

It certainly seems like the next evolution in recording tech is targeting the very source of the capture, what with all the pattern emulation coming in from the likes of Austrian Audio and those 8-capsule devices mentioned herein. Putting DSP right there worries me a touch, but I guess they'll develop those tools to become irreplaceable in the near future.

I love how they use a piece of tape to keep the wire back and out of harms way and then crimp it underneath a disc with a sharp edge. Pointless!

Why on earth don't you replace the PIEZO that is available in every music store for a few bucks? And you just don't solder the finished wires to the broken ones and that's it! I've done a lot of piezo repairs like this on electronic drums. It is probably the most common fault.
@BradsGuitarGarage Жыл бұрын
"available in every music store for a few bucks" is simply incorrect. NO MUSIC SHOP in Sydney stocks this sensor, so get your facts straight before shooting your mouth off. How many years ago was this video? I would do it differently these days, but you have no idea of the budget or application. I did this for free for a friend and the unit is still functioning perfectly while being used daily.
