This is perfect thanks, I have not been using the metal base so I had to be super directional with my sticks, gonna remake with the metal base now. Thanks again perfect video explanation.

7:50 enter the magic of velcro... just sew it to the foam by hand . Or glue nonslip rubber to the bottom foam pad.

Have you tried this? • Cut a hole in the board slightly larger than the drum pad. (Maybe half an inch bigger all the way around.) • Glue a net over the hole. If this isn't secure enough, use two thin boards with holes, and a net sandwiched between them. (Then you can probably just bolt the two together and skip the glue.) • Glue the drum pad to the net. That shouldn't allow too much vibration to get through, and what does will all be low-frequency.

Can the drum kit kit ocho be expanded? If not, what would be awesome is a drum kit kit that supports a full kit. Snare + rim (2) Three toms + rims or aux triggers (6) Bass drum (1) Three cymbals, bell trigger on the ride, choke switch on the crash, pedal for the hi-hat (6, I think) I think that's 15 total. Perhaps make it 16 just in case.

I'm confused about the piezo disk.. Does it need to be attached to a hard surface to work? Could it be a soft (rubber) surface instead? What if the metal disk short-circuit the piezo (if it is even possible)? Great tutorial btw, thanks :)
@agentcalm8 жыл бұрын
HiMarion. Im guessing the piezo has to be on metal in order for the vibration of the "hit" to activate the sensor. The rubber covering is to give the drum stick bounce so you can do rolls etc. The metal wont short the sensor. The wires from the sensor are away from the drum pad and soldered. You can cover this solder joint with electrical tape. Hope this helps :)
@mal2ksc8 жыл бұрын
It also helps if you shorten one of the wires on the piezo, and use a slightly longer extension wire to compensate. Then your solder joints aren't side by side, they're staggered, so even if the electrical tape wears through they're unlikely to short out.

HiMarion, Do you think sheet acrylic would work instead of metal?
@Havoid8 жыл бұрын
+Killadey I was thinking about that too..
@Killadey8 жыл бұрын
I might try have to try it. I'm hoping I can pick up some pie dishes on the cheap. The one's where the bottom lifts out, I can use that as my disk, and there should be enough of a 'ledge' left in the tin for the foam to sit on top. I'm hoping the foam will act as a decoupler to the rim, so I can go duel zone.

Can I connect this to a pc keyboard? And then mapping in a DAW?
@guitarraenllamas7 жыл бұрын
yes, If you can send MIDI messages then your daw can use this signal. I did it.
@ohmightyone5 жыл бұрын
For anyone curious about this line of thinking, I don't think a pc QWERTY keyboard will work, as that uses a key matrix, not an individual circuit for each momentary button. To marry the two, consider a C-PAC controller. :)
