Such a powerful message in a gorgeous song… I’ve only heard a couple things from her before. One was a a light-hearted feature on a Pentatonix Christmas album doing Frosty the Snowman I think, and then she featured them on another song of hers, Better Days, as a remix. I haven’t seen a music video for it, rather a mesmerizing visualizer. Her voice is immediately recognizable, I liked your description of texture. I particularly liked the part when the piano stopped (as much as I like piano), and it picked up again right on perfect pitch. I’d enjoy hearing more from her, definitely.

Yes, this was a very emotional rendition of her song. But Angelica does an even more emotional piano cover, especially if you understand what she's talking about in her introduction. You now know about her battle with pneumonia and sepsis and that her torso (stomach, back, sides) is literally covered with surgical scars. She had just turned 13 when she did the cover and it took her until she was 14 before she embraced her scars, like the warrior she is, and was willing to wear clothes (e.g., crop tops, bikinis) that showed them to the world.

Alessia Cara is such a talent. (Born 1996) In the US, she broke thru with ‘Here’ in 2015. And became better known in 2016 for this, ‘Scars’, and her version of ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from the Moana soundtrack. She was featured on The Warning’s recent version of “Enter Sandman”. Check it out.

First time hearing one of her songs. I like her voice. That texture ,as you called it, definitely makes it unique. The only thing I have heard her on before is the collaboration cover she did with The Warning on Enter Sandman for the Metallica blacklist album. Recommend checking out The Warning too, a 3 sister Mexican rock band. That Enter Sandman version is good, or Choke for an original. Rosalie has heard them , just ask her how good they are.

This is still a beautiful version but in the official video you can tell that she's grown even more than the are here. Of course she's also probably grown more confident with herself as well. A message that she be mandatory for young people especially. Social media and filters on photos, although wonderful in many ways has only increased the false image of perfection.

You should listen to "You let me down" and "Best days" from Alessia. She does not get nearly enough recognition for her writing and voice.

Absolutely I will put those on the list. Share this video around and encourage others to do the same. I will give her a few more tries but eventually I have to bow to the almighty KZbin algorithm if I want my channel to survive. So let's get some Alessia fans in here and make these videos a success!
