After first encountering Alev Lenz's haunting song Fall Into Me during the Black Mirror episode "Hated in the Nation", I immediately purchased the album Two Headed Girl to further explore her talents. The album is fantastic. It is a mixed bag, certainly, but only in styles, not in quality. It is a rare thing to find an artist able to change gears so easily & seamlessly. She's like an amalgam of some very good female artists. One moment she's singing little jingles, in a similar vein to artists like Feist. The next moment, she could easily be mistaken for a slightly-less-gloomy Fiona Apple. Then all of a sudden, she's creating complex sonic & emotional landscapes, a la Bjork. Most often though, she's spending long moments as Sarah Slean's doppelganger. And these are all good things, as is her mix of them all, making the style her own.
