Great images captured of the elvers and alewife! It was awesome to work with these students from COA to share some of the secrets of our amazing watersheds!

Update for 2022, we have had over 15,000 alewife counted through the dam gate in less than a week this season at Somesville! 2021 was our record number of alewife since the run was restored @ just over 52,000 fish! We have been experiencing the largest elver / glass eel run we have ever seen since the fishery began 3 decades ago! Local citizens and glass eel Harvesters were able to get the support of Maine Department of Marine Resources to assist with moving approximately 229 pounds of elvers up over the dam into the Mill pond to prevent a potential large scale die off due to low water flow and early season air temperatures nearing 90°. A HUGE thank you to Maine DMR for responding and supporting the concerns surrounding the success of these tiny eels migration!👍

WOW! So glad to hear such great news, thank you for the update! :) So happy that these small elvers, resistant and vulnerable at the same time, are getting the help they deserve and the fishery is sustainable!
