In South India we used get this in freshwater and we don't deep fry in in oil. It is the best fish for fish curry it emits some kind of oil to curry and gives good taste and smell.

It’s in Taiwan, but the BBQ eels are cooked in Japanese style in this video. There are two main ways to eat eels in Taiwan in my town. One is to cook whole eel in herb soup. One is to deep fry eels like fried chicken and dip them in sticky soup.

I am from malaysia. This reminds me when I was young I used to catch eels in the padi fields, sometimes used hooks sometimes drained away a small pool of water in the middle of the fields after padi had been harvested. Among the eels, there were snake headed fishes and catfish. All were fresh water fishes. All grown naturally. We used to cook them with chlli and coconut milk. Very tasty and nutritious.

@@GZ...1 You are right. Malaysian types are quite similar with Indonesia 's species. You can still get farmed and naturally grown eels in both countries, slowly they will be replaced by farmed varieties. Masak lemak campur kunyit n rempah are welcome by many.
