Don't forget my books on Amazon, including Seven No1 New Releases. Many free on ALL devices with Kindle Unlimited, www.amazon.com...
This is a long clip so settle in, put your feet up and enjoy. I don't often get the time to film a restoration but I hope there are a few useful tips on how to bring a vintage sewing machine back to life. I also have booklets on tension adjusting and sewing machine fault finding on Amazon.

I love these old machines! I learned on a treadle when I was 10. I'm 70 now and have a 1902 Singer treadle. It's an amazing workhorse. Nothing phases it, unlike most modern plastic ones. I'm so glad you restore them to their former glory. With electricity prices sky rocketing I can see people power making a giant comeback!

Dear Alex, The case came out beautiful and the machine looks gorgeous, but what got me drooling was the box of spare parts you picked up for nothing. :-) Thanks for a great video! By the way, the baking soda and super glue gear teeth on my Biesalt and Locke worked! She sewed her first stitches tonight and none of the teeth broke off. Wayne Schmidt.

Evaporust does a great job removing any rust. Makes bobbin winders cleanup great as well. I soak all metal parts in evaporust for 24 -48 hours. The metal comes out as good as new. I never have to sand only polish afterwards. Thanks for the videos I’ve watched them all many times.

I was told about that many years ago by a watchmaker who cleaned his parts with that, very gentle way to clean rust away. I have used it for tricky shapes. But I love the burnished steel patina that oil and emery gives. Great tip.

Alex, do you know about Cathy Hays, who just unboxed one of these beautiful machines? She and her historical dress friends including Bernadette Banner are fighting fast fashion and inciting interest in machines like the ones that you love. Here is Cathy Hays unboxing a Frister and Rossman in merry olde England - your backyard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXqnY4esec6JeMk Maybe she would like to do a tour of your shop some day. Warm regards Jennie

I hadn't heard of an Elna Lotus in many years! Wonder why not? Are they available in USA or did I learn of this machine when I lived in Scotland? I want to learn more! Love your garden! That yellow and deep rose red rose nearly broke my heart for its incredible beauty. Monets water lily paintings do the same. Your Rose and Monet’s Water Lillie's are so beautiful my heart aches a little; I guess because they seem almost unearthly and impossibly beautiful. Thank you.

@@alexaskaroff so, I totally blame you, that I bought a Frister&Rossmann from ebay today ;) After a bit of research, I found out that she's a model E. The girl seems to be pretty complete (missing a base though), but she needs a crank. Is this something I could get from you? Or might there be a similar machine ( the singer 28?) whose crank might fit?

Hi Alex, I am a retired engineer, 73 years old and have decided to have a go at sewing machine restoration, I have bought a Frister and Rossmann model E VS, I am finding it very difficult to find any info on adjustments required after a stripdown and refurb, I wondered if you could point me to any useful resources for info and spares. Best regards John

Hi Alex! I have a vintage Bradford machine. I just bought it this past weekend. It worked when I tested it out. I got it home and it started smoking. I think there's a problem with the motor. I liked it, but it is no longer sewing. Any way I can fix it myself? The model number is M 122960. The light works. It's getting power from the presser foot, but it's not engaging the balance wheel.
