It’s because the limits haven’t increased for 15 years! Transfer fee inflation means it is now becoming very difficult to comply with limits set 15 years ago. Transfer fee and cost inflation has outstripped the rate that income has increased at. And this why so many clubs are having problems at this point in time. It is even harder for clubs like Forest to comply who had a reduced limit of £61m v £105m for other clubs.

Most clubs in the PL have breached PSR/FFP but it's only now the PL are starting to charge clubs due to not wanting independent governance. It's fast becoming the worst league in the world due to disparity from top to bottom.

That disparity has existed since the PL was formed, but now there are rules concerning the sustainability of clubs. My club, Sunderland, only remained in the PL because the owner was prepared to swallow the losses, and still provide money for more signings, until he lost interest and the club almost folded. Clubs have to be financially viable, otherwise they could fall into administration once the owners no longer want to fund them. Whilst the top clubs make enough money from the commercial side to be able to finance their squad, most other clubs are struggling to do the same, there needs to be clear and consistent consequences for playing fast and loose with the future of clubs.

If 80% of EPL clubs are potentially in breach of FFP rules, points deductions would be useless; very little would change if 16 out of 20 teams in the league were docked the same amount of points. The financial benefits for breaching the rules far outweigh the punishments dished out by the EPL/EFL and the clubs know this.

To really make football sustainable and fair ALL clubs should have the same cap of ONE million pounds per year to spend on buying players and paying their wages that will definitely level the playing field across all leagues lol Clubs keep their profits to spend on improving facilities, academies, services and lower ticket and merchandise prices Will that mean that all football talent will be sold to other European leagues and weaken the standard of football in England? Absolutely yes … but it will be sustainable and FAIR lol Joking aside, you can’t really blend sustainable and fair as one concept. Sustainable means that the club can pay its debts regardless of whether the money is generated by internal revenue or external investment. That means owners can’t bankrupt and liquidate clubs and must use their own money to prevent that from happening. Bottom line: spend as much as you can without bankrupting the club Fair means don’t allow bigger clubs to take players from other clubs on the cheap; don’t create barriers that prevent smaller clubs from competing, and make sure VAR decisions don’t always go in favor of Manchester United and the like lol

What about City? What's going on with them? Have they done something illegal? Have they employed the best lawyers in the land to tie the PL up in litigation for years to come? I don't know for sure, but plenty of people more knowledgeable than me, claim that is what is going on at City. What do you think? Or am I an idiot for not giving a fig? I'm fairly sure that City fans don't believe their club has done anything illegal, or hope that it hasn't, but either way I'm fairly sure that everyone could point to Chelsea and ask, "how did Abramovich get away with it?". The answer is because he could, as there were no rules, at the time, to prevent owners pumping funds into a club, with no thought as to whether it was sustainable, and what the consequences would be if he stopped pouring funds in. My own club, Sunderland, only survived in the PL because the billionaire owner was pumping money into the club to cover the losses, and provide extra funds for transfers. When he stopped doing that, the club almost went out of existence, but dropped down into League One, because the club could not afford to pay the players, so some were released, some accepted settlements, but one or two, and I'm not gonna mention any names, those guys insisted on being paid PL wages in League One, because there were no relegation clauses in their contracts. Who negotiated the contracts on behalf of the players? The Chairwoman of the club, which was a clear conflict of interest, but it was allowed under the rules, at the time. So, what about City?

Everton broke the rules last year but got 6 points deducted this year. Leicester got relegated last year two points behind 16th placed Everton. Leicester will be punished for "allegedly" breaching FFP in the Championship due to the fact Everton didn't get punished correctly the previous year. Meanwhile 115 City rake in millions, improve both on the pitch and off the pitch and win consistently. Imagine being charged with 115 breaches of rules at work and not being atleast suspended pending investigation.

The rules are to prevent clubs going out of business when the owners no longer want to fund them, it's common sense that if you don't generate enough income, then you can't be allowed to spend more than you have, otherwise the club gets wound up in the high court for non payment of taxes, as happened to Bury.

For all the muppets out there talking about City: Everton and Forest admitted it. City plead not guilty. So each of the 115 charges now has to be proven in court. This is why there’s no resolution to their situation yet, it’s ongoing, both sides’ solicitors are working as we speak and it will take years

Because Man City have employed a whole host of the best lawyers and barristers in the land, to obfuscate, and delay any proceedings by issuing legal challenges to every decision made by the PL. Man City believe they have more money than the PL, they're probably right, and are using that to drain the PL coffers, in an attempt to force the PL to think twice about punishment. Is it just and fair? No, but this sort of thing is normal for rich business owners.

I see complaints on a daily basis with football whether it’s FFP, referees, players, managers, and the irony is all these people complaining your the ones who have the power to change it, if fans stopped watching and going to games football would die pretty fast so do it but no people will twist and moan all day long but quite happily carry on the same way
