The narrative that Haaland disappears against top teams is not only incorrect (see below) but it’s very lazy and doesn’t look at how City’s other players factor into him apparently disappearing. Because it never ceases to amaze me how City players like Silva, Foden, Grealish, Doku, and Walker almost appear to go out of their way to avoid playing first time balls into space for Haaland and provide first time service to him. Pep has instilled such a possession obsession mindset into his players that it’s actually inhibiting them from maximizing Haaland. Watching Liverpool today reminded me of what I’ve thought for a long time. For as many titles, goals, and success as Haaland has had at City, I’ve always thought he would have been a much more natural fit playing for more expansive and direct sides like Liverpool and Chelsea. Bayern: 9 matches, 7 goals, 2 assists Leipzig: 8 matches, 12 goals Leverkusen: 4 matches, 4 goals, 1 assist United: 7 matches, 6 goals, 3 assists Arsenal: 7 matches, 3 goals, 2 assists Liverpool: 8 matches, 3 goals Chelsea: 5 matches, 3 goals, 1 assist Tottenham: 5 matches, 3 goals, 1 assist PSG: 2 matches, 2 goals

Fans of other clubs laugh, but this is why Chelsea fans absolutely loved Drogba. Better than the opposition? Drogba would score... Tight game? Drogba would score... Under the cosh? Drogba would save you. Keep you Haaland, keep your Kane... Give me prime Drogba any game, and twice in a final.

A striker is only as good as the service into him. And right now the service into Haaland isn't great. The 1st caller was correct in saying they don't play to his strengths.

The squad is just lackluster tbh, nobody is getting any better out of that current squad. Everton won't go down but it's going to be an ugly 15th-13th place finish.

Haaland is a great goalscorer, and still hasn't reached his full potential, but I don't think you can call him World Class yet, because he doesn't do it against the best teams.
Trossard has also talked about how he doesn’t engage with football outside of work!

Vicious cycle with Haaland: Pep won't play to his strengths, no one will pass him the ball bc they're terrified of losing the ball, Haaland is sick of making runs for no reason and is getting fed up as a result of being ignored 50x a game. Oh yeah, and Pep's slow buildup play which allows the opposition plenty of time to reset their lines and flood the 18yrd box sucks out all the space for Haaland to operate which also makes it far more difficult for City to score regardless of Haaland playing or not. And on and on we go. Until Pep changes, expect more of the above

@MCFCTheMadHatter Bingo. Someone that can actually properly watch a match instead of saying lazy banter like "ghosted, pocketed, etc". Haaland is playing in a system that almost appears to go out orbits way to maximizing him. And he plays with guys like Silva, Grealish, Foden, Savinho, Doku, and Walker who refuse to play first time balls and service to him when the ball is on. How people don’t see this is mind blowing. I’m glad you can see it.

So lets get this right, he doesn't think Arsenal will win it, and he doesn't think Liverpool have played anyone decent. He says there are no easy games in the Prem, but says that UCL is different kettle of fish? He says the title race will go down to the wire, hmmmm?
