I can't seem to find any comments that aren't at least 5 years old. actually finding this rare footage of Alex after all his fame, feels like a time machine, this is what made Alex the guy he is!!!

Seeing the Astroman in person is so different than seeing it in video. That thing is huge. You got to be from a different planet to think you can free solo climb it. Legendary.

What astounds me most about Alex is that he doesn't "train". He just climbs every day that he isn't traveling to climb.
@Squids_Vlogs10 жыл бұрын
thats the best training for soloing is climbing everyday
@GeetarAdam10 жыл бұрын
That isn't entirely true. While he doesn't have a strict training regimen like a lot of sport climbers, he does a lot of running, and I've heard him reference core training and finger training routines in interviews.
@Squids_Vlogs10 жыл бұрын
GeetarAdam ya lately hes been running bouldering finger training to get that power he lacks, but back in these days he just climbs a shitload, trying new things is good though
@GeetarAdam10 жыл бұрын
WeBeChillin420 True. This seems to be older footage. And for his purposes, specialized training doesn't seem to be as important as over-all stamina. He solos routes well under his maximum ability, so developing maximum strength with specific training isn't nearly as important as honing his general ability to climb long sustained routes.
@Squids_Vlogs10 жыл бұрын
hes very solid climbing very slow and controlled, climbing a bunch and building that risk for tolerance mental strength is a biggest part imo

Dan Osman didn't die on a night jump. Also, the ropes he was using to do his ropes jumps weren't static. Some idiot in the comments said they were. Static ropes would snap you in two if you fell from a long enough distance on one of them. He was using climbing ropes, which do have just enough elasticity to them to absorbe a climbers fall. The longer the fall, the more stretch there will be, because more rope is involved. Anyhow, you do this kind of shit long enough, you will die doing it.

@ownedbystealth13 жыл бұрын
@mistgl. Dan osman didn't die bungie jumping. Idk what he would call it, static ropes rigged for long distance falls basically, thats how I would explain it. But his ropes were static, not bungie cords. While attempting to set a new world record, he tried his jump at night to test it and it failed. Simple as that. I got my info from a climbing mag.

@gosports123 people repel down from the top. they don't climb up, it'd be too hard to climb up with all the equipment necessary, and it'd take HOURS to set up cameras/get to the different heights in order to film.

well...to which climbing tradition do you actually refer this to? Where I am climbing (Palatinate, Germany) it is allowed to use natural things like trees. But don't think that this makes it easier. I don't even know anything harder than 6b with a tree in the route or even a tree in an overhang ;) greetz from palatinum
