For a young lawyer he is pretty snarky and childish, impertinent. I would make him sit down. He is not helping Alex at all. Lawyers are to be professional inside the courtroom at all times. His boss has probably already called him down for being childish and unprofessional. Lawyers call each other out all the time, it’s part of their job to do so when representing their client. If Alex Jones had not been such a greedy jerk, he wouldn’t have to be where he is. He started all of this. Just for a buck which he is now paying to his lawyers.

At first, I wondered why an organisation like infowars had appointed such a terrible lawyer. Now I'm starting to believe that he is genuinely doing his job badly, inciting the judge, racking up a significant number of objections that were sustained (one of the metrics for measuring the performance of trial lawyers), deliberately so that infowars can appeal on the grounds of inefficient representation by Counsel. He's making mistakes you wouldn't expect from a first year graduate, and they're all mistakes that can be measured, or directly quoted. You could keep an empirical spreadsheet on his mistakes in the context of what should be expected of a trial lawyer, which would be incredibly convenient if you wanted to make a case for inefficient representation. We know infowars sacked their previous Counsel half way through discovery and then blamed him directly for failures. That extended discovery by almost 2 years, so they certainly have form. What I don't know about the U.S legal system is whether you can appeal on that basis in the penalty phase of litigation, so my entire premise might be flawed if that isn't the case (just to be entirely transparent).
@rickay5363

@@rickay5363 Thanks, that clears that up. I'm not a U.S citizen, and I don't take an interest in many civil trials, so I wasn't quite sure of the distinction. Although that's even more confusing, because now I don't know why Counsel is behaving in this manner. Unless it's so Jones can go on air and tell his viewers that 'his lawyer f'd him' in the same sort of way he tried to smokescreen the bankruptcy to his viewers. I think Jones will always be more concerned about having rhetoric for his viewers than he is about any person outside that group, and sadly his viewers seem to lap up even the hollowest of excuses (just look at how many of his viewers don't understand why a default verdict was issued and believe that the judge just declared him guilty because she's a government agent or some s**t).

@jessicaplumpton918

Basically, plaintiff lawyer (PL) asked the judge to instruct Jones’ lawyer (JL) to stop referring to PL and co-counsel as “personal injury lawyers” The judge agreed that JL was using the phrase as an insult, and told him to knock it off. JL responded to the judge “But they *are* personal injury lawyers, and they’re dishonest!”, referring to a disagreement JL and PL had about whether or not they agreed to admit a certain piece of evidence. Judge admonished JL for calling PL dishonest, and said something to the effect of “if you’re going to accuse a lawyer in my court of being dishonest, you had better have a record of it” (sorry, I don’t have the exact wording of what she said). Judge then left the room, and the media stopped recording/broadcasting at that point. The next part wasn’t captured on recording. But according to media reports, once judge left the room, JL gave PL the middle finger and again called PL a liar. PL and JL then got up in each other’s faces, until a member of PL’s team intervened.

It's an average maybe none of them do?
