My lord. 30 hat tricks in this era! Wow, and he’s out there on the ice out there with kids in early 20s and still scoring point and competing.. Hope he Jagr’s it and signs one year deals til he doesn’t want it anymore. I don’t think he is close to retiring. It’s a lifestyle you don’t want to give up on. Look at Iginla, Marleau, Thornton and many others. They had to be forced out of the league, but they weren’t great like ovie is in his 30s. They tarnished their careers and are remembered as quite pathetic not knowing when to give their roster spot to young players who need experience.

I think if the team was rebuilding and terrible, he would just go for the record and then retire. The rebuild ended up being a retool and the team is actually good now, he might want to stick around longer.
