I'll never forget being 10 years old, listening to the 2004 draft lottery results on the radio with my dad. We had the worst odds of getting him as we finished 3rd worst in the NHL. When Washington was drawn to pick 1st overall, we both went absolutely nuts! We didn't even know how to pronounce "Ovechkin," but we new he was ours and that was all that mattered to us at the time. It's been almost 15 years since that day, but I'll always remember it vividly. Thank you Ovi for making hockey so much fun to watch!

3rd best odds. But yes, great fortune to get Ovechkin. Imagine if Chicago had picked up one extra point, they would've won the lottery and drafted Ovechkin while the Caps would've been stuck with mega bust Cam Barker.

@@JHockeyFan IIRC back then only the bottom three teams could land the first overall pick. Because we finished 3rd worst, we had the worst odds of getting Ovechkin.

Despite the Caps 1st round exit this year, ovechkin was absolutely insane. People thought winning the cup finally would slow him down but all it did was elevate his game even more. He said he’s got a lot more in the tank so look out

My favorite is his 41st 36:52 against the kings. The flawless back and fourth passing and then an absolute rocket top shelf. Such a dominating play that looked absolutely savage.

А сколько за сезон забила вся команда. Овечкин это великий капитан, голеадор, хоккейный Месси. Но один в поле не воин. Кэпитэлз в прошлом году это великая команда, великолепная командная игра. Нельзя разделять их. Да и сам Овечкин не раз это говорил.
