So glad you were able to capture that 14 ball warmup by Alex at the beginning of the video... what a talent.

Yeah at first I thought he broke and made a ball, and was just running out. Then I realized he was just practicing. Weird that they lag, then Ike immediately takes a break.

I thought that was a game at first. I'm thinking his opponent would just walk away and concede.

Just wanted to say Thank you, to "Railbirds", for all the great videos you post.

Never ceases to amaze me. Guys show up for a 1 pocket match and don't bring any coins.

In addition to thanking you for the video, I'd like to compliment the directing skill as well. The choices of when to switch camera angles, and to resist constant fast switching between them was much appreciated.

Thank you. Of course now that you say that, you'll probably watch a video where I switch angles like a madman. :)

Didn’t even recognize Ike without his cap, sure recognized his game though.

I see Ike found his cap.

One pocket is one of my favorite games to watch. I've been playing pool for over 50 years (mostly in bars), but, had never even seen one pocket played until @ 3 years ago. Now it fascinates me. Would love to try it.

Ed Hartgrove play ya for cash, and I don't care how good you are at bar pool😏

●●● At 16:17 into the video, Ike hit the cue ball into the #15 ball (which then hit the side rail). The cue ball then hit the end rail and proceeded to hit the #3 ball. It was a legal shot, but I think Alex thought that it was a foul, because nothing hit a rail AFTER the cue ball hit the #3 ball. I think Ike even forgot that the #15 ball had hit a rail, because he agreed that he also owed two.

I saw that too.

This match might be boring to some but every move is strategically played with two great players! I saw Ike break and run out 8 racks of bar table 8 ball at the BCA few years back. He's definitely no slouch

I saw ike make some 1pocket shots I've only seen accredited too Vernon Elliot in the Beard books. Incredible banks and cuts.

56:00 can't understand why Alex didn't shoot the easy 8-3 combination. Play it at lag speed and have the 8-ball to shoot next, plus removes the 8-ball from the opponents side. Alex banked the 7 which left only left a long combo, but I think the value of removing the 8 from Ike's side far outweighs leaving Ike's side only a bit more congested.

I love one pocket 🙏🏻

saw Mr. Pagulayan play good enough shape and get out. He also moves and banks the ones that should go most of the time. Mr. Runnels can hammer one from the end rail and get eight and out, plus he simply pushes softly and at times freezes to the rail or correct side.

This is by far some of the best commentary of a one pocket match on the internet. The commentator didn't forecast incorrectly what the players were going to do, he didn't tell us what he would do, he didn't state the obvious like "Alex made the four ball" that any viewer could already see with their own eyes. For the above reasons most of the one pocket commentary totally sucks and I usually have to turn the sound off. The one exception is/was Box Patterson who resisted the "sins" mentioned above and instead gave expert insightful explanations of the tactics and strategies used by high end players. Beyond the above "sins" of which they are as guilty as anyone, I find the voices of DeLiberto and Incardona unlistenably grating. Perhaps worst of all is Daniel Busch who, in addition to the above "sins" can never keep the score straight or even remember which player has which pocket. He has risen to a level of calling matches by the best players in the world and owes them a level of professionalism commensurate with theirs which he sorely lacks. I thank him for bringing us so many good matches but he definitely needs to raise his game or better yet bring Box back.

Alex was in the zone on his warm up rack. He barely even takes a glance or a half of practice stroke. The balls are his friends and know where to go. LOL

They play way too slow. Ive played one pocket for 30 years these guys know the game and it shouldn't take 5 minutes a shot. They definitely need a shot clock?

dumb shot at the end--why wouldnt he fire the 1 ball in and at least give himself a chance? poor choice.........

I agree, he was trying to grind too much.Gotta go on the offense there.
