@@killuminatusplays2001Jan also has experience competing in Muay Thai.. why he did well standing against Izzy (sure, the size difference made Izzy a bit hesitant to take risks), and why he had a more patient, cautious approach against Pereira. The problem with MMA is that there are way more elite grapplers than elite strikers, and the moment someone gets known for getting brutal KO wins with some technical prowess, they begin to believe that they themselves are high level strikers. Then a real striking pro comes in and shows em what’s up. The UFC has a long history of overhyping their fighters, especially exaggerating their striking abilities. Now that REAL high level strikers in their prime are showing up, casual fans are beginning to see what actual striking experts look like.

@@davidpaul2955what? That's dumb. In the fight he was 205. He had to cut weight. Yes his walk around weight is 230, but in this fight they were the same size. So what's the point here? That's why we have weight classes in the first place. In this very fight, jamahal Hill looked way more chunkier to me. Alex periera is more long and lean. For fights to be put together both fighters have to be around the same size. Periera just has a way larger frame. He's tall as shit. And to cut that much weight anyway is hard on the body, and he still won the fight. But yeah, he is naturally bigger.
@davidpaul29554 күн бұрын
@@S475-pb2dp He was not 205 in the fight. In mere hours after weigh-in he was almost 240. He put his own video up. Who is dumb? Weigh in is 24 hrs before the fight. Very FEW weigh the same on fight night. That is NOT what weight classes are about. But it should be. I've always wanted fighters to weigh in on fight night. Truth in weight. But that's not what it's about. It's about who can cut most to fight SMALLER guys and increase their chances of winning. Cheating, to many of us. That's not what interests me. Truth in weight does, WITH more cross-weight fights. I like to watch 140 vs 180 for example. You just never know. Many times the smaller guy wins. Very entertaining. Like early UFC. But anyway, Pereira did not weigh 205 on fight night. You better look into that. He's a huge guy. Transition to heavyweight will be no problem.

When the ref calls time out, it means time out. The fighter shouldn’t be able to make those decisions. Jamal 100% put his defense down, then he 100% got rocked because he was expecting Herb to separate. It was an odd situation.
@gda21066 күн бұрын
Unified rules of MMA, Section 15, Subsection G, Par. ii: if the fighter states that they can continue on before the 5 minutes of time has expired, the referee shall, as soon as practical, restart the fight. Alex waived Herb off after Hill’s foot connected with AP’s cup (wherever it landed last, the hollow sound of a steel/ plastic cup is incontravertibly audible). Herb called “time out”. Alex hopped **once** simultaneously *as* Herb was calling “time out”. Herb then called “time in” and Hill and Alex formally reengaged by *tapping gloves* then hand fought twice before alex faked a right as Hill threw his first left straight which Alex slipped and deflected before countering with a left shovel cut. There was appox 3-4 seconds of hand-fighting after tapping gloves for Hill to have refocused. Alex won the handle-battle and foot position before the time out was called. Hill was check-mated fair and square. In a championship title fight one should never lose focus even for a millisecond. There are *no* excuses, ever (least of all headlining a historic UFC 300 PPV titlefight). Credit to Luke Thomas (for fight analysis) and John McCarthy (reg. rules and regs) who break this fight down in detail.
