This is a great analysis, ngl

Man, you truly make one of the best analyses, i was really uninterested in the fight because I thought it was a "free win" for Alex, but you came with some pretty interesting points for a game plan for Khalil, and even thou Pereira is probably gonna win, it makes de build up all the more interesting! Good job, as always!

Alex is more diverse in his attacks at middleweight and noticeably quicker. However, the trade off is he’s able to take shots better at light heavyweight. Tough matchup on this fight though. Every upset happens when no one expects the underdog to be competitive.

I need khalil to test Alex's knees he said he has surgery recently if he lands that oblique kick he can shut down his movement and make alex play the muay thai game so khalil can prevail

His surgery was last year.

Rountree is a shorter southpaw with a busy lead hand, good low and left body kicks. Too bad he doesn't have wrestling grappling... add to those said attributes he could've had many ways to give Alex something to worry about. Imo Khalil should approach this fight same way he did with Bukauskas and put Alex on the backfoot with his pressure. Alex will be bigger, have reach advantage over him and have accurate power punch. If he goes in there and implement a gameplan that mixes up his striking to soften up Alex' legs & body, to slow him down or hurt him instead of downright head hunting, Khalil will have a better night than the last southpaw Alex put down (Jamahal Hill). He is going to have to be the one initiating contact to build the pressure.. with this he needs to be prepped to defend against Alex' counter. Khalil shells up chin down and have good head movement so maybe he could survive. Goodluck to him.

pereira needs to be careful with throwing the bodykicks and leg kicks ithink, i can see khalil time a big left hand and maybe hurt alex.

Roundtree is more athletic. He has more striking speed and blitzing speed with his feet. He's very good at reactive leg kick checks.

Great vid as always, I gotta be honest even though that would seem kind of disrespectful to the fighters I'll mention I have a hard time rating MMA above 170, the sport is genuinely low level and lacks a talent pool on those weight classes. A LW sized Jiri would never crack the LW division's rankings with 0 boxing guard, non-existent transitional game, and many other amateur flaws in his game and that's a LHW champion! Jiri is champ, while someone like Dustin Poirier never was which makes me not only sad but amazed on how massive the skill gape between MMA above 170 vs 170 and below. Same reason I don't think Jon isn't the goat. I went on this ramble to highlight that my enthusiasm for this fight is not that high due to how little I rate the combined skill level in the Pereira vs Khalil matchup. However, I do like to note, Pereira does struggle with southpaws with good jabs and a very smart lead hand work and that was proven in Glory. It takes good southpaws thought, southpaws who won't bite in Pereira's obvious fakes and would out-cagecraft him. I don't think Jamaal and Rountree are one of them but who knows Alex is very beatable anyway so I won't rule out Khalil.

You said you don't think Jon Jones 'isn't' the GOAT, I assume you meant 'is'? Can you outline your argument as to why he isn't the GOAT, in your opinion? I tend to agree with everything you said in your comment, interested to hear your thoughts.
@DiamondWOlf-h8mАй бұрын
@@danielbennett4606 I said Jones isn’t the goat. He isn’t even top 5 for me. If you agree with my points than this shouldn’t be hard to understand. If LHW MMA in general is low level that means those 15 title fights weren’t that impressive. Yes, impressive on paper but Anthony smith, Reyes, Santos, Rampage, Reshad, Gane(lol at Gane) are genuinely not elite fighters. They just aren’t. Gus isn’t ok but not that great. Jon has one genuine elite win on a P4P level and that’s DC. Other than that many goats have way more elite wins. Fighters above 170 genuinely lack fighting fundamentals to the point they made Alex Pereira who can’t grapple with a pretty flawed striking(stands tall, big no no in any respectable striking school) a supposed all time great.

@@DiamondWOlf-h8m Great analysis and breakdown. The only point that is missing is that Poatan’s style is built specifically for and designed around him and his strengths, dimensions, power, strongest assets etc. Put that style on any other fighter and they fail. The defining stats in any style is results and their is no debate to that point,the only simultaneous double champ in Glory history, most defenses in Glory MW history w/ 5, 1st in Glory Hall of Fame, Fastest 2 division Champ in UFC history, only fighter to beat Izzy 3 times and knock him out, beat Jiri who was 31-3 w/ 30 KO’s and hadn’t lost in 7 years as well as Hill who had never even been wobbled in a fight. The simple answer is your style has to allow you to win, and win and win, that goes for Poatan, Jones, Cormier etc…at the end of the day the little details fall to the wayside and all anyone really remembers is wether you lost or won 💯
@danielbennett4606Ай бұрын
@@DiamondWOlf-h8m Oh I offer no disagreement, I just wanted to hear you expound on your points. I've always disagreed with the take of Jones as GOAT, and I find it irksome that the UFC are trying to push this as an unquestionable consensus. May I ask who your personal GOAT is then??
@DiamondWOlf-h8mАй бұрын
@@mikemosley2948 thanks, I would have to respectfully disagree. Fighting tall like Alex is genuinely a bad approach. In his fight vs Strickland he was getting a lot of his leg kicks checked/missed because Strickland has a solid leg checking game. Now if Strickland was a good fighter like a Volk, Dustin, or heck even a Josh Emmet. Pereira would get immediately countered with a straight shot and get knocked out. However Pereira faced someone who only teap kicks for offense 🤷♂️

Good work, I think your channel would pop off more if you just made these a little shorter. Well a lot shorter. Like 15-20 min max and people will pull up because you're spitting facts here. Although I disagree that Khalil is really good he's actually really mid. But fun.

@@BrodieReeves2029 Yeah but there wasn’t a truly PERFECT contender for Pereira. I do agree that his wins don’t look like he necessarily deserves it but he did fight for the title to a draw recently and picked up a good win at the time against Walker. Magomed deserved it instead of Rountree based on the situation at LHW
