I absolutely fucking love that 90% of the true difficulty of this challenge just came from Alex utterly going brain dead like with dropping his loot behind his cars instead of in them and completely forgetting about making sure they had a lighter. It truly is a video made for smooth brain gamers like us.
@vavra222

Not smoothbrain, in a world where there is 100 of various, automatic small tasks, everyone derps - irl or in game. Did you even went to work, only to stress all day over the question of "did i lock up/turned this or that off"? Its just that the little things we do automatically are so mundane, that you sometimes either forget you did them or forget to do them alltogether.

yeah i had a similar experience on my first successful vanilla run... i was setup in a compound with freezers filled with food for the winter, i had traps like crazy in an area where zombies never go. i had so much and was so prepared for winter that i just, stopped caring... if you live long enough and dont die to something stupid, you just, end... you get to a point where you are so well off that there is nothing much left to do and the boredom gets you...

@@pyrosniper6431 i mean i can win the game in the first two weeks... i started run in west point, all default settings. i basically acted like a nomad for a while until i realized i simply couldnt function with everything on me, or even in the trunk of a car. so i went to the far east side of town, a nice little house on the edge, i cleared the zombies and ran laps around it screaming just to be sure they were all gone. i spent so much time cutting planks and boarding it all up. when i got to the point of having 4 cupboards filled with canned and dry goods. and a good array of weapons. i felt like i could just idle there for a month and not have any problems... never mind farming or electricity. i had the river for unlimited water, i had the forest for unlimited fuel. going out and getting more food from wherever would be simple. the mere act of surviving by default settings isnt enough... i think a big problem in this environment is that it is designed for us to be people, but we dont play like people. we play like calculating machines.

You're very brave for taking sunday driver in a insane pop, Louisville run 😲 Like others in the comment here have said, it should be worth 4 points min. Driving slow isn't the debuff, the debuffs are: Slow acceleration, unable to plow through large groups, off road travel is a crawl, towing is only possible in the most favorable conditions and you also burn more gas (actual game mechanic, Speed Demon also burns more gas, but less than sunday driver lol)
@curtisyue182

Yea, its dumb. Sunday driver should burn way less gas, not way more 🤦‍♂️
@pantommy
@pantommy Жыл бұрын
@@curtisyue182 I mean... it's not really dumb... Being a "Sunday Driver" could imply you also don't know how to correctly and efficiently shift gears, meaning you often end up driving in a low gear at a constant high rev, basically burning through fuel without even going that fast instead of shifting into a higher gear. It's a mistake commonly made by beginners and people who don't understand the mechanics behind the car. It's also really bad for the environment, to top it all off. Hence, it does make sense how it'd burn more than "properly" shifting gears as is the case for Speed Demon.

Just a few small notes regarding improving your gameplay. 16:40 Your decision to leave your safe zone, full of resources yet to be looted, to venture into the crowded streets. Work with proximity, and the lowest risk. Furthermore, the Molotov strategy, with the fire expanding, is not good. Unless you have a way to keep the zombies away from your objective. For example, car alarms, or police sirens. 27:38 Improve that stamina. You can't run among zombies for long if you're out of breath every two seconds. One point less that you can perfectly level with myopia (and equip yourself with glasses).

Your editing, your narrating, your obvious and inspiring skill with the game, there wasn’t a second in this entire experience that I wasn’t completely brought into the content. Love this 100 days thing we see these days, condencing 10s of hours or vastly more gameplay down into a still nicely lengthy chunk with some narration to help us understand their intentions. Zomboid unfortunately tends to drop off after awhile once the person playing gets secure, needs less, or becomes complacent. This did manage to keep me engaged however. Great work, making me want to play again even though I'm pretty bad and tend to get bored once the main exploration is done.

Hell of a watch. I cant imagine how much time it took to play this, let alone edit it all together into a cohesive narrative and then smooth the audio over the top like that. Well, well done.

One really has to wonder... What the heck is the army doing in these games?! When a single dude with Molotov cocktails is capable of killing thousands. One must wonder of the army, with napalm, isn't capable of doing the same on a much bigger scale

I dunno if you still care or already found out, but the answer is that they're basically all infected. The virus started by spreading via fluidic contact (aka bites) only, and the military was struggling to keep things under wraps but still broadly managing to keep it mostly contained to Knox County. Then an airborne strain of the infection appeared, and things collapsed almost immediately. Pretty much everyone is infected, and if any remnants of the government exist at all, they've sealed themselves away from the world. The survivor you play as happens to be immune to the airborne strain, but not the fluidic one.

Great video, definitely in the top tier of the project Zomboid content out there. I can’t fathom the number of hours you had to put in playing (almost) flawlessly and the hours editing and writing the voiceover. Congrats man, you pushed through and it was worth it. Rewards will come soon enough !

As I've gotten older I've developed an intolerance to so many things and bad habits. Such as unedited let's plays, saying "like" or "um" too much, the list goes on... but you don't do any of those! This was a very enjoyable watch! Well done!

I mean, unedited Let's Plays aren't inherently an issue, barring massive volumes of dead air or griding I don't see an issue with having a commentator posting their entire gameplay from beginning to end. Especially for Blind LPs, where the entire draw is every second of a new player's first experience.

Hey Alex, grats on the video, great job! So dope. Some unsolicited sound-mixing advice from a sound engineer: A voice-over should always be relatively louder than you'd think. And everything that isn't a voice-over should always be quieter than you'd think. Right now your VO and the SFX/music are all roughly the same volume. It makes for a very chaotic sound mix where all the elements are battling for attention, and for longer videos, can be very exhausting to listen to. You can think of it like this, as a loose rule of thumb - You'd think that a natural sounding mix could look something like VO: 100% volume, SFX: 90% volume, Music: 80% volume. That just feels intuitive, right. But actually a natural and balanced sounding mix is a lot closer to VO:100, SFX: 30%, Music: 20%. It's just something about how the ear directs attention. If someone is talking, that's what your ear will focus on. And you need some space in the mix to allow you ears to do that in a comfortable way. Hope you'll find that helpful. Good luck!

Hey Alex, for any of us attempting to do the same, would the courtyard be a better place to build overall, making the nearby grass zones into farmlands, using the buildings as a place to keep the enemies at bay on first floor and destroying stairs to turn floor+ into part of a massive base?
