Alex Trebek Was 'At Peace' During His Final Days

ET spoke with ‘Jeopardy!’ executive producer Mike Richards on Sunday, following the death of the show’s long time host, Alex Trebek. Richards opened up about Trebek’s final days of life as he continued hosting the game show and spending time with his loved ones.

I cried all the way through tonight's episode of Jeopardy 💔 Alex was such an outstanding person. He felt like family. My Mom and I watched Jeopardy together for so many years. We had so many laughs because I really wasn't smart enough to play, she's the one who got the answers right. This touched me so deeply because Alex Trebek was one of her favorite people and mine too. I lost my Mother to cancer on the same exact day eleven years ago.

I, too, love that Alex had a good last day. I'm very pleased he was surrounded by his family and that he knew throughout the whole process that he is loved not just by his family, but by the world. It helps us all, I think, to know he was at peace. My deepest condolences to his wife and children. I truly hope they find comfort and solace.
