give volkov his title shot, 4 fight winning streak and has dominated all of his fights since the Aspinall loss. We will see what happens with Aspinall/Blaydes and Jones/Miocic. Pavlovich upset because he thinks Volkov asked for the fight, and by beating him, it puts him farther away from the title... And given their history and friendship, he expected Volkov to refuse the fight. BUT from Volkov's end, Sergei's side/management are the ones who accepted the fight BEFORE even having a chat. So basically the "fight was announced" and that's how BOTH SIDES found out aboit the matchup... Which I don't believe. I believe Abelaziz instigated this. Just a misunderstanding due to a lack of communication, and bad management... Because Volkov seems like he wasn't super-keen on fighting Sergei, and Sergei is mad that it happened.

I don't think there was bad blood before the fight. They were close friends and teammates, but were tapped to fight each other. Sergei probably felt uncomfortable with the matchup and might have initially declined it, but was persuaded by his friend Volkov to go through with it. This likely affected Sergei's performance, as he seemed to hold back to avoid hurting Volkov, leading to his loss. After the fight, when Volkov tried to shake Sergei's hand, Sergei shoved him out of frustration.

@amalyshok4 ай бұрын
they were sparring partners and sincerely helped each other in preparation for fights. that is, they do not communicate like friends, but like athletes, they are very close. and they really didn't want to fight. there has been a confusion that even they themselves cannot understand. It seems like Pavlovich knew about this fight even before Dana’s announcement and did not refuse, but shifted responsibility for the decision to Volkov, answering “if Volkov agrees, then I agree too.” Volkov had no choice but to accept the fight, since for the UFS this would mean that Volkov would voluntarily break off the fight, although Pavlovich agreed. As can be seen from Pavlovich’s reaction after the fight, he is offended by Volkov. just because he accepted the fight or because of his defeat - it’s not clear

So Tom Aspinal proclaimed he is the real heavyweight champion because he won against an over hype and overrated Sergie Pavlovich.

tom also beat volkov by round 1 sub imo the best heavyweights rn are jones tom gane and volkov and only tom or volkov have a change vs jones IMO volkov has the best shot against jones due to the fact jones doesn't do the best against long fighters, karate fighters and people with decent bjj volkov is a karate fighter with good boxing, with a longer reach than jones at 6,7 and a bjj black belt i think he's the worst match up for jones at hw
