i have noticed other similar channels on youtube, they also build DIY log cabins, but those cabins are NOT VISUALLY HIDDEN ENOUGH. alex's half-underground cabin is perfect in height, it's not too high to be easily noticed from afar nor goes too deep to make people feel weird or depressed. i think alex has made a piece of priceless treasure by building this cabin, not to himself alone, but to everyone who loves this cabin(including me)!

Alex, of all the bushcraft videos I've watched, your dugout cabin is my favorite. If I was younger, I'd be out in the woods trying to make a similar one. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to do that sort of thing. So it brings me great pleasure to watch you build, and improve on, and enjoy you wonderful cabin. I love the way you blacken the wood, I understand that helps to make it waterproof and its also very attractive. I would ask one thing, please don't denigrate (svärta ner) your wife, it seems a petty thing to do. She must be a wonderful woman to give you such freedom to spend so much time in the wilderness. Maybe one day she'll come along and we can meet her too. I wish you the very best, and all the happiness in the world. I also wish I had a dugout cabin like yours. Jag önskar dig lycka och glädje (I hope the online translator got that right)

unless one cant use their limbs they can do similar stuff ... ok sure perhaps not spend 3 years making a nice get away like this ... BUT turning a food garden into a tranquil place while still providing food ... is always possible ... just a few simple things like a hand made bench perhaps a garden table ... maybe a water fall for rain water and garden watering etc ... heck turn the garden into an edible oasis of relaxation ... and you get a similar thing close to home

Future project suggestions: add a simple wire mesh (chicken wire) inside the stove pipe to keep birds out, attach a pulley to the skylight so you can open it from inside, sculpt the ground in front of the window so rain/snow/water runs away from the dugout, build some outdoor furniture like adirondack chairs, outdoor stove/oven (maybe a pit you can cover).
