This was my favorite ship throughout the season and I really hoped that they were going to be end game. But you know what? I think he realized that he loved the idea of Monty and their secret relationship. Alex showed him real and genuine love no hiding or internalized homophobia, their relationship was much more healthier and positive while it lasted.

Maybe because as a watcher you find more interest in complicated, forbidden relationships. They use more the chemistry and intensity than logic, but in real life Charlie would be the best option. He is 0% toxic, he is kind, he cares, he learnt about TBI and anxiety for Alex. I think it was less exciting, maybe boring, but nevertheless what Alex deserved after all the suffering.

Alex had a happy ending with Charlie. Before they had a thing. Winston was the first sense and recognized Alex and yeah Alex comfortable with him. As he's been thankful for Winston. But it was ruined when they knew that he did that because he wanted to revenge Monty. We knew, how he loved and cared Monty, but he admitted that he's love with Alex was pure. I was sad for Winston especially his last conversation with Alex in the finale. Had me crying and sobbing the day I watched it. Damn, he's into Alex. Winston definitely need a redemption and that little scene with Monty coming back to comfort him was not enough. I think the break up between Alex and Winston was forced and the relationship between Alex and Charlie was a little forced as well. There was so much chemistry there for Alex to stick it through. Winston was understanding, he didn't try to pressure him to come out and he tried to fight for him. He didn't even snitch on him because how much he loved him.

I have never seen the show, only clips on KZbin, But Personally speaking I think Alex didn't deserve neither Winston nor Charlie. Charlie is too good and kind of a soul for Alex. He gives his 100% all the time and loves Alex dearly. He truly loves and cares for Alex. Yet Alex never Fully seems to be into him, Even when he says that he loves Charlie, his eyes seemed cold and dead to me. Winston certainly has some issues like hyper fixation, self esteem, obsessiveness etc. So he needs to work through his issues before anything else. He is so starved for attention, kindness, love and care that he basically falls in love with any guy who shows him the tiniest amount of affection. He isn't innocent , he did some messed up stuff. But I think that unlike his feelings for Monty , he truly DID love Alex. But the way Alex and his friends treated him was plain cruel. I feel truly sorry for both Winston and Charlie. Both of them need to get away from Alex and that crazy group of emotionless, cold people he calls his friends. People like Justin and Winston who truly deserved a happy ending got nothing. While the frankly horrible "main" got their dreams come true.

Alex has very sad back story.you have not watched show that's why u don't get why he is too cold.he committed suicide because of guilt over his friend Hanna in 1st season but got saved somehow.2nd season he struggled over his brain injury and killed rapist Bryce who had raped Hanna and jessica and destroyed jack knee.third season he wanted to confess truth but his friends covered his case .he and his friends suffered too much.his friend Tyler was raped by monty who got killed in jail .Alex is one of the most complex and sympathetic character .he killed Bryce for sake of his friends .even though murder can't be excused ,but he is one of the best character after Justin ,clay for me as he always took stand for his friends.he was cold because of all suffering and brain injury and he believed that he don't deserve Charlie love.he said that to charlie.but I m glad that Charlie never left him and make him believe that he deserves to live and love.
