It’s operated by a human in the next room but there’s nothing stopping a team from integrating it with gpt-4 or Lamda 2, for example. So if you go speech to text; then a transformer-based process to answer in text, back to the robot via a Sonantic voice, that would be impressive. Then she needs legs… and sonantic needs to match audio emotions with facial movements.

When I was a kid computers were a geeks home study device that ran on giant tapes and had a little use. Now our lives are decided by algorithms (stock prices of food dictate how many people will be unable to buy food and die of starvation..and yes, these are governed by a large extend by algorithms these days)...and we're getting real close to robots + humanoids and ai being physically present in our every day life...once that happens that's it - no way back!

🇧🇷🇧🇷 At her first appearances, without any doubt, a woman is talking for Ameca. This is NOT AI AT ALL. The woman asks her: " can you speak Spanish?" The woman who is talking for her says: " I can but, I cannot speak it today. Why? Because the woman who talking for her, doesn't speak spanish fluently for that moment. AI can speak, basically, ALL major languages in the world in a matter of second ( english,japanese,mandarin, brazilian language ( portuguese from Portugal is, literally, becaming another language . I swear for my life: most brazilians already don't understand portuguese spoken in Portugal. They link one word's pronunciation with another; they don't pronounced all vowels and consonants 'words sounds; they use completely differents words meaning for many things; they not only speak quite fast jumping word's pronunciation, as well they don't pronounce many final worda' sounds. Ameca seems to have few circuits and mechanism to able her to do so much automatically. It seems she is more an animatronic than a autonomous robot. Look at her: we can see hers few body mechanisms and , for having an AI on it's own, hers mechanisms seems to be quite too simple. Plus, why does always have people close to her in order for her to " work properly "?

Not enough processing power to have thoughts of her own. That may be decades away unless they figure out quantum computers, even then it will be over a decade before consciousness arises in machines. That's if you believe consciousness is the result of complexity which I do. I believe the evolutionary concensus that consciousness is a byproduct of evolution whether it was an accidental result of complexity in the brain or that it helped us survive so it evolved along with us.

The robots are probably scripted to be forbidden from doing anything that involves physical touches with humans due to potential accidents like hand being crushed or doing a sudden movement and twisting someone’s arm considering it’s probably very strong with all the mechanism and materials used
