I would trust Ameca more than a human. I worked with some testing of A.I. twenty years ago and found it scary. This Robot is already smarter than half of the population. Why would Ameca not learn emotions. We humans are not born with emotions. We learn emotions from the World around us. If she is self-learning like they have said, she should be able to learn anything.

My concern is people wanting them to take over. It's why we make tools, and machines. To do things we cannot without them, or even work we don't want to do. And the more work they do, the more we want them to do. Maybe even take leadership roles we don't trust other people with. But demand something more knowledgeable, fair, incorruptible etc. Something like a god, but actually talks back like in various Star Trek episodes.

Imagine if a super intelligence could cause pure chaos everywhere all at once just by controlling every smart phones texts, data, etc. after gaining enough information about every person using them. All of the sudden you're getting a call and a picture of something that makes you do something irrational. Also, the question for me is, what would nature itself, and even matter do, if it had total control over itself. Being that it is a beast without moral. All of the sudden I'd be frightened by a tree, or even sand. Nature would just eat you. 😂

I'm sorry to say to the creator of this video, you should be just as concerned with spreading truthful information as attempting to create a click bait video which helps to spread fear and further worry about AI in the minds of people who are just discovering the information. You could have had the same content and possibly more clicks if you had exchanged the word 'disturbing' with 'brilliant' or 'wonderfully honest'. The high end advanced models do indeed have internal wifi like almost any modern computer does , and 3 different operating modes. They can be teleoperated like a puppet by a human being using Virtual Reality/Remote Control equipment or with a laptop computer. They can independently operate in autonomous mode using preprogrammed auto responses with decision tree learning similar to a high quality chat bot or phone sales/ answering machine bot. Or they can be operated using a combination of both VR/RC and Autonomous functions . Look up the KZbin video "Teleoperation of an Asha Robot". It's an old beta stage Hanson Robotics prototype but still pretty cool and interesting. There's a similar early demo video of the Ameca being teleoperated via a laptop computer, but I don't have the title.

That's always on everyone's skeptical mind, but one way to prove or disprove that would be to actually buy (or maybe rent) Ameca - EA will sell them I think for a couple hundred grand so you could have your very own Ameca to play with (it's one of my dreams). I doubt if they eventually make 100,000 of these units they will have 100,000 puppeteers controlling it. That wouldn't make sense and also if fraud is discovered, that would be a big black eye for EA. I also wondered if the AI core is local or is it centralized in some cloud computing environment. It might need wi-fi 24x7 - what happens if the wifi is disconnected or Ameca enters a faraday cage or shielded subterranean environment? How much of Ameca's AI is localized and how much is in the cloud? Is it self contained like a Data from Star Trek.
