I learned that wearing lingerie everyday makes you feel amazing and when u meet a guy it's already a norm for you and so u alreay feel elegant and all that without even trying cause it comes naturally. Actually, the expression "avoir le vague à l'âme" = being deeply sad and melancholic without a clearly defined reason has nothing to do with waves="vagues"(feminine word). It comes from "le vague" (masculine word) far less used in modern French but has the same meaning as the English adjective "vague": which is a state of indecision, imprecision, undefined, blurry. I guess it's a common mistake among french people to think it's related to waves because it's very poetic, and you can also feel waves of sadness when you experience grief, for example.
