Ha! I saw it the opportunity a few before and it was what I was already considering when you asked to pause! Really great feeling to be a lowly 1800ish amateur and still to see a great move from time to time. :-) Maybe there's hope if I work on my game. Probably, the move was obvious for the reason to take the diagonal from the king and prevent him to move eventually to a1 square. Thank you for the videos mato...

Yes, move 18 was really obvious and ke6 after Alekhine didnt capture the bishop was also obvious. But this rook sacrifies from Alekhine I didnt see. That was brilliant.

The N on f6 is pinned to the Queen, who must stay on the d8-h4 diagonal to help defend it as it is now attacked twice after White plays Ne4. Meanwhile, White has threats of playing Qf3 and possibly Ng4 later, attacking f6 again, leaving Black with no way to further defend f6. Black wanted to get his Queen off that diagonal before advancing in the center.

I was amazed that he didnot take Bishop d5 when he had the chance, but at only 1707 fide rated I wouldnt have a chance against the great Alekhine.
