Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I rushed my filming and production schedule, and as a result, not all of my current patrons are included in the end screen. I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to new patrons *Alexandre Martins, Bob Sauerbrey,* and *Jim Storch* for their support. (I promise this will be up-to-date in the next video!)

Thank you for this latest video, I'm now well & truly Borodin'd up! I still am in total awe as to how many facts you manage to get out in such a short space of time. It's unbelievable. This series is fast becoming iconic. Looking forward to Episode 4 very much indeed.

Just so delightful. I was as it happened playing the "Petite Suite" for piano version this morning. A great shame that he was not more focused and devoted to his very gifted musical talents. Such wonderful music.

Hos output isnt as great as say, Tchaikovsky or Rimsky-Korsakov, but the pieces he managed to produce on his free time is absolutely wonderful! The greatest melodist of the mighty handful, in my humble opinion

Thank you, Thomas, for covering one of the outstanding composers whom, like Les Six, formed part of a nationalistic ecole of their own musically and philosophically influenced aspects unique to their own histories. Indeed, The Mighty Five and Les Six were compared to each other on the part of the Journalist, Henri Collet, who named Les Six, anticipating that the comparison between the French counterpart would help to make them more popular as the The Russian Five by the time of WW1 was institutionalized in the way that the music of Les Six would be generally accepted as helping to kickstart a truly French music Initiated by the German invasion of France which caused a certain revulsion towards Teutonic ideals following the onset of the bloody warring that would shock the entire world.

@ClassicalNerd

I did Medtner a while back (albeit two sets ago and with poorer production quality). Nikolai Myaskovsky and Alexander Glazunov are now 364th and 365th in the request pool, respectively: lentovivace.com/classicalnerd.html

Duly noted. Please note that you now have five requests active, so I can't take any more requests from you until one of those five (Fux, Nietzsche, Myaskovsky, the "Black Mass" Sonata, or Wozzeck) is completed.

My policy is to not cover living composers because their careers are ongoing (thus making retrospectives go out-of-date almost immediately).

@ClassicalNerd
@ClassicalNerd 4 жыл бұрын
Possibly ... I hesitate to do one because my personal collection hasn't grown all _that_ much; a good half of the books on this shelf are actually my roommate's. Also, I filmed a bunch of these videos before quarantining at my parents' house in a safer part of the country, so I'm in no position to do one anytime soon anyway.

I find really interesting that some composers/musicians were also scientists or had some interest in scientific subjects or vice versa... Saint Saens, Albert Einstein (which was friends with Godowsky and Leo Ornstein!), Sabaneyev

If you're looking to do any upcoming vids on the "Great Composers" series, I would love if you could do one on either Leonard Bernstein, John Williams or Martin O'Donnell.
@ClassicalNerd
@ClassicalNerd 4 жыл бұрын
You're the eighth to request Bernstein [ lentovivace.com/classicalnerd.html ]. The others have not been added on account of my policy against covering composers with ongoing careers (which all but rules out living composers). Technically, I consider all the composer biographies I do to be a part of this series (as they go on the _Great Composers_ playlist) but I've not titled a video as such since February 2019 in order to add a little variety to the channel.

use more visual support about the topic in your videos (images, videos, and other things you can imagine...) it is so boring to watching you talking for this long

@@ClassicalNerd Maybe you could have Pixar superpose 3D animations of the oscillating tempered frequencies involved to the music... cause it's so boring not to have some awesome, yet informative visual element when facing the burden of having to listen.
