@Juju bee The Last Kingdom Season 3 is now being shown on BBC First here in Nederland. Having liked the first two seasons, though the way Utred grew up did not try to mirror the book and the way Aethelflaed was captured by the two brothers (who appeared too early, btw) departed from the book somewhat. So far in season 3, the book (The burning Land) has more or less been ignored. I might say more, but I may cancel the order for the DVD unless they start shewing the Last Kingdom rather than some ersatz Viking saga.

I wasn't a fan of the show during the first 3 episodes on season 1. After I watched episode 4th, I was hoocked completely. I think Alexander is a very convincent actor and he will be have a bright future as an actor and also hopefully as director.

Whatever it is you bring from "yourself" to create Uhtred it works very well..... I'm not a tv / show watcher but I've been hooked on this show since my son asked me to watch the 1st season 3 episode... All the actors are great, story line fabulous but would not probably continue to watch if Alexander was not coming back as Uhtred.. It was hard to see some others go but never kill off Uhtred. He is the main reason the show is so successful.. Alexander I hope you NEVER allow the evil side of Hollywood to take you or your essence .. Stay the good person you seem to really be..No fame is worth that and you could be successful in whatever you do..All the best.. Looking forward to season 4

We just finished watching the whole series of The Last Kingdom my husband and me really love the show. I just found this video here in youtube. I’m so happy knowing they filmed the 4th season. It would be shown sometimes next year. We will be so happy to watch again Uhtred on the film.

What a great storyline!!At first I thought I might not like something like this but after the first episode...I was hooked. Uhtred plays a great part in the story. Alexander you portray him fabulous. Keep of the good work. I just ended seeing all of it and now I'm going through withdrawal . I hope 3,4, 5, and many more are still to come. Please NETFLIX...don't stop on this one. Is your family American or German? I am always impressed when actors use an appropriate accent eg. Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is completely ruined by Kevin Costners accent!! X

From my understanding, Anglo-Saxons were once vikings too who settled much earlier and took up Christianity. So I wouldn't be surprised but they adopted a 'dirtier' simpler lifestyle once they all turned pious... bathing less, plain clothes etc. The Danes were known for being 'cleaner' and took more pride in their vanity and looks.

Really enjoyed this, and glad Alexander took the time to do it. I don't know if he'll look at these comments, but I'd like to recommend a few books to him, as a long-time amateur scholar (and writer) of the Anglo-Saxon period. One is a book by Frank Stenton, who wrote the definitive bible of the Anglo-Saxon social and political history. It's really entertaining. The other is In Search of the Dark Ages, by Michael Wood. It contains a large section on Alfred that really presents a clear picture of him as leader, including his talents and limitations. Some of Alex's past comments suggest to me that he might have a rather misinformed idea about early Christianity in England, and its unfavorable comparison to Danish culture, and these books could help with that. (Cornwell, a friendly acquaintance of mine and a brilliant writer, unfortunately let his anti-Christian sentiment bias the accuracy of his storytelling, and it's sad.)
