It is what it is, and what it will be. People change and grow all the time, the music and message Alex and the Edward Sharpe band put out is definitely worth turning onto.

This guy was in a mod/pop/dance group and was a new wave musician. I have a feeling that this hippy dippy, flowery, 60s loving, laid back, bro image is an act. I don't actually think this is how he is.

Average interviewer so far...but Alexander has such calm and confident presence. You just get the impression that he is so centered in the present moment.

People go through phases. His earlier experience with projects like Ima Robot were likely fueled by heavy drug use and the higher level of spastic energy that comes with being a rebellious youth. People settle into their own skin as they get older and are often much more mellow. I don't know where you get this idea that people don't change.

Bad interviewer? You would have never got such in depth insights on some kind of MTV interview show. The interview goes about as deep as you could possibly hope for. The interview guy might not be hyped and 'youth' but he's certainly getting a good response.

Actually, I think he's quite good. He doesn't get in the way and just lets Alexander say what he wants to say.

This guy grew up so fucking rich - He inherited millions from a family member. A next level million heir hippie. I wish I had millions so I could make super white people music. I would love to see a chart showing the demographics of fans. Are blacks allowed? That aside - His solo music is really good

why are they talking about his dad? I feel like we missed a portion in the beginning where alexander says his father's work was very influential to his music... because that's the only reason I can fathom for this irrelevant conversation to continue so long.

@PsychadelicElephant Come on. It's beautiful that a band can make music to stick out to the everybody rather than just a single crowd. That is so silly that you would stop listening to beautiful music because of "mainstream" people and what not. Besides, hating the "mainstream" is the new mainstream. So you are "mainstream". lol

These interviews are fucking painful to watch. I love listening to the music and I think the band is excellent but they aren't these hippie peace loveing hipster hippies they'd like you to believe. Are they sweet and nice? Yes. But it's all about earning a living, which is absolute fine. Just a long as you don't blindly worship them. For fucks sake, Alex was fresh out of that weird ass Robot flop when he magically turned into the zen embodiement he now personifies..
