I think he is one of the many people nowadays whose school experience demonstrates how ineffective the school system can be. It's not that he was a bad kid, or that he didn't want to learn, it's just that he wasn't interested in what they wanted him to know. Sometimes I think it's better to let people learn naturally about the things they want to know. It leads to better critical thinking and I think Alex must have naturally had better critical thinking skills than most kids. Questioning school is not a bad thing. Kids acting out is often a sign that something needs to change to make the environment more conducive to learning. Often the kids who do badly in school just need a different approach and often do amazingly well in the things that they find they are interested in. The danger is, if those kids are forced to go along with these things, it can kill their creativity, make them unhappy and teach them that learning is not fun therefore associating it with negative things for the rest of their lives. It's also sad that it's approached as if it's the kids' fault. It's not their fault. It's our fault.

It's interesting to hear all this but the interviewer is asking really personal questions that have absolutely nothing to do with the music?
