My mother used to play Rach no. 2, and I've heard many pianists perform it like Anna Fedorova, but for some reason, the way he played it touched me the most. If only my Mom was still around. His Pas de deux from Nutcracker is also brilliant. More power to you Alexander! Don't forget to thank our Lord for your great gift.

Should we all just step back....give him space to blossom/develop in his own way,and in his own time. I think he suffers from shyness. Let's not make him retreat even more into his performances...... Which give him something to do with his hands!! Should he perhaps take a 1-2year break from performing so he can become a more rounded,confident adult. Should we leave be?
@evewong32213 жыл бұрын
If you read his interview of Music life 2020,you will understand that what he suffers a lot is this long break due to the Covid. It’s a kind of torment that he can’t express his feelings through the live. Maybe someday he will take a break as he said any creative person needs time to stop.
@maritamcdonough57773 жыл бұрын
What I see is that Alexander is confident and easy in everyday conversation. It is different when he is expressing himself in his music. Creativity can go to very deep levels that are simply not reached in normal human concourse. What art is all about? Expression that can be reached in no other way. Sasha's depth in his music making comes from a different realm. He shows us deep soul in his performances. And we are drawn. That he can go to those places and then come out and have an everyday conversation tells me that he is a healthy young man. And yay for that! I love both sides. But what compels me the most is where he takes me with his music. Thank you, Alexander.
@PETERJOHN1013 жыл бұрын
It amuses me how they hope to find his fears and phobias. What a negative set of questions. They are apparently not accustomed to someone whose performance art derives from good character as opposed to neurosis. For answers to such questions, they will need to look in a mirror.
@4Topwood3 жыл бұрын
I don't think they meant they questions to be negative, they are just very naive. They simply cannot conceive of his level of genius and technical virtuosity. On a more prosaic level, they probably aren't too aware of muscle memory and the confidence that endless hours of practice give one.
@rogerclark32293 жыл бұрын
Mr Brandall - You have completely misunderstood the nature of this interview. The two adults are respectful and in awe of Alexander! They ask sensible questions although you seem unaware of this... As for ANN EDWARDS... She, too, is patronizing. They are not 'very naive' as she falsely claims. Most people are not blessed with fabulous memories or concert pianists. So you know everything. Well, well, well! These two interviewers have done a good job, but Brandal and Edwards are too arrogant and insensitive to realise it and stupidly take offence when none is intended. People like this are a menace on the internet.
@4Topwood3 жыл бұрын
@@rogerclark3229 I think their questions about concertizing were naive--not surprisingly. Unless you are a concert performer or keenly interested in one, you probably don't understand how such performers approach concertizing. For you to respond to my very mild, sensible comment by calling me patronizing, arrogant, insensitive, stupid and a menace is unhinged.
@rogerclark32293 жыл бұрын
Ann Edwards if you don't understand why it is insulting to call two polite TV interviewers 'naive' then you are completely insensitive. They live in the far north of Russia - I think their city is within the Arctic Circle - hardly a world centre for sophisticated culture. But they have sufficient knowledge and intelligence to recognize a genius when they see and hear one. So you have some specialized knowledge of classical music. So what? Don't be such a snob. They asked reasonable questions that most people would like to ask a person with remarkable talent. This is an interview aimed at a general audience - like most TV interviews - not specialists. If you had any knowledge of broadcasting you would know this.
@donnasyms78733 жыл бұрын
@@4Topwood I wish you wouldn't use the term "concertizing". There's no such verb in English as "to concertize" It seems to me to be an unnecessary American neologism, when we already have a perfectly good term - "to perform in concert". There are many who would like to jump down your throat for saying "concertize", and consider that it lessens your own credibility.
