The Nevsky's bow armor is deceptive. It's true, that at long range you wouldn't want to bow tank a battleship as they would pen that 25 mm upper bow with plunging fire and citadel the ship. However, in late game situations when both teams are down to 2 to 4 ships each and yolo-ing enemy battleships becomes possible, plunging fire won't happen at close range and that 50 mm bow armor will auto-bounce any battleship AP shell. Even the Yashima's 510 mm AP will auto-bounce so you can forget about citadeling this thing through the bow. The T9 Donskoi has 2x5 torpedoes and each torp does 14,400 max damage. The Nevsky's torps will be just as powerful. If you are in an enemy battleship you might be better off just ramming this thing.

Cruiser classification was traditionally resting upon calibre, yes. but also tonnage was mentioned as factor. in the Treaty for the Limitation and Reduction of Naval Armament (commonly London Naval Treaty) cruisers are classified under Part III Article 16 1. as: CL Light Cruisers: "(a) Cruisers carrying a gun above 6.1 inch (155 mm) calibre;" CA Heavy Cruisers: "(b) Cruisers carrying a gun not above 6.1 inch (155 mm) calibre." My statements were based on the fact that AN has more cit armour than DeMoines, Zao, Hindenburg ... following the London Naval Treatys Definition she is a HEAVY Cruiser. she is armoured as one, armed as one, tonnage is compareable with CA, HP as well. (W uses main guns as Dual Purpose, AN does this with just pure AA mounts...logical) Speed: W 33knt; AN 36knt (AN is very fast 3knt more than W is a lot) Turn: W 740m; AN 940m (+200m, poor turning, but speeds helps to keep turnrate high enough) Ruder: W 8,1s; AN 11,5s (+3,4s this is alot und should impact AN= ConcSea: W 12,4km; AN 16,3km (this will make things not easy for AN, but good range, good armour, good speed compensate this alot) ConcAir: W 8,5km; AN 8,4km (WTF, i mean WHAT THE HELL is wrong with the Air detect of this ships??? WG says Air detect is based on highest point of ships. these girls are tall.... i mean look at this masts.) Consumables: W DeCon, Radar standard US, hydro, defAA, repair; AN DeCon, Radar standard US, hydro/defAA, repair (W wins this, AN gets a powerful radar) To summ it up: AN is a hell of more tanky than W, DMG output is about equal maybe AN is more effective, maneuverability and concealment are more on side of W but AN has good speed and stupidly AA detect. So AN is clearly better than W. W is a strong ship in right hands, but does not forgive a shit. AN is very powerful, but much more forgiving.

This sounds like a proper cap to the line that currently ends with Dmitri Donskoi; Moskva comes completely out of left field in that line, and it always seemed like Moskva would make more sense as an odd duck limited-availability premium ship like the Kron. You have to completely re-train Russian commanders to graduate from Donkey to the Moskva.

I think this ship is a neat idea, I’m gonna wait until the new T5 comes out and then go down this line. That damage output looks a little rough for a light cruiser though, I guess the idea is quality over quantity by guaranteeing more hits with that velocity and radar as well as making the hull on the strong side.

*This video has me questioning if I should use IFHE on my Kutuzov and Irian especially, but my lower tier light Cruisers as well - WHAT TO DO???* Cuz Irian and Kutuzov both have IDENTICAL HE pen of 30mm to Al Nevsky (and every other 180mm gun, as well as all otehr T8+ 152 to 155mm guns) - and without IFHE can have 15% and 16% fire chance instead of just 9% and 10% respectively (because Irian has special captain Quan Rong with +3% fire on Demo Expert) I am questioning many life choices.... DAMN YOU WG! You should have given us this ENTIRE PATCH TO RE SPEC FOR FREE! Moskva is a decent ship. It has a bit of a high learning curve though. I have it and like it. I've got a permanent camo on it and a special commander as well. Although I wouldn't use too many doubloons to get it. Maybe buy premium for and play for like a whole day or two and try to get it? Since it will get locked behind coal. Oh and it's pretty tanky as long as you're properly angled. And when it comes to division, it is a really fun ship to play. There is also 2 weeks of free premium time. Why not utilise that?

Won't take too long. Got to Moskva on about 2 weeks with premium, running only special camp and flags for first win. Slightly over 16k XP a day, and while normally I can't do that, I'm stuck at home because Coronavirus. Line split is coming 9.4 at the earliest, so you still have all of European destroyers part 2 in 9.3 to grind.

I play the game for fun not for the frustration they cause so I refuse to put myself through it dropped down to the Bismarck at least I only rarely see it and then it’s only one. WG CMs said you won’t get Nevsky, you’ll have the Moskva but for the Nevsky you need to gather exp on Donskoi. Same you have to do with Shchors to get the Tallin. You can’t compare it so much with Smol , you have way better armor.

Hey Notser you say in this video that if you have Moskva you will get Nevsky in its place but the wows development blog says that if you have researched Moskva and not purchased it or have sold it you will get Moskva when patch drops. Also it states that if you currently have Moskva in port when patch drops you will not automatically get Nevsky but you will get a research point bonus and the tech tree will reset and start from DM Donskoi but they don’t clarify to what extent. i would swap expert loader and marksmen for SE / Suitability expert, you suffer 1 second extra turret turn rate ( no biggie since ur mostly playing at max range ) , and you have alot more HP and staying power

Sorry Notser but when I look at this ship I don't see a "fragile beast". That Yamato at the end there could not citadel you not matter what he did. When I compare this ship to something like a Zao or Des Moines the Yamato could delete those ships out of existence from nearly any angle. And if the A.P. on this ship is anything like it is on the Donskoi then it is completely broken.

Just to clarify y'all, the replacement will be the Petro, as it has the 220mm guns. Also the WG has been asked several times in streams and you will NOT get the new ships in in replacement, unless this has changed in the past week. This also falls into the latest pattern of things (see the heavy RN cruisers).

That makes no sense. When the USN cruiser line split happened, if you had Cleveland in your port you got the new T8 Cleveland as well as the new T6 Pensacola.

Was doing the Russian cruiser line to get the Moskva (iI'm not a fan of the Des Moines) because it have amazing cannons, now that it's removed from the line, I was wondering if it was still worth doing. Steroid riddled Donskoi!!!! Using IFHE. The drop in ricochets and over pens is amazing. I still average 6 fires a game. I have moved away from concealment and AA and I focus on skills that do more damage. Also run double rudder shift and play it like the Donskoi. At further ranges and burning down BBs. Kill dds that get too close. Very consistent damage with IFHE. AP is great against other cruisers and BBs at shorter ranges. Like the DDonskoi, you will be punished if you show broadside. Bring your kiteing skills.

Can't say that the Soviet ships look bad and I _am_ interested in them because WG seems intent on experimenting with Soviet Paperboats... but you have to wonder how far they are going to go. There are still real ships that could be in the game and ships stuck in development hell... yet they are pushing these out as fast as they seemingly can. *Where the f--- is my IJN Tone? You even prototyped the ingame model years ago.*

moskva's citadel is truly horrible.yes if its perfectly angled then its ok but other than that you can have devastating strike consistently . but a. nevsky's citadel armor is stronger than moskva's. and the gun performance is way better than moskva's. 4-5 sec reload with that shell speed. just awesome.

I don't know how well you are performing with this ship but my personal experience is not exciting. The damage output is very very underwhelming. Gun velocity is good but accuracy is garbage. It is good against DDs and most of the CAs but it struggles against t10 bbs like Kremlin and GK. To me it is the most underpowered t10 cruiser. Moskva is far far far superior.

@@Shadowat00 he without ifhe is bad. But with ifhe is better. As I said before Armor is better than Moskva specially citadel Armor. Played 15-16 matches still didn't get any devastating damage. Ap in close range is good against most of the ships . But yes it takes time to damage someone. Overall good ship. Still I think better than Moskva.

"Obscene gun performance". Except Des Moines has better DPM with both HE and AP. The only thing that this cruiser has on Des Moines is gun velocity.

@@BayushiTawa Des Moins has 30mm top deck and sides, it has 27mm nose (dunno if they changed it). You can say Nevsky has the 50mm nose but it its really low, you will pen it with your HE and AP no matter what angle ge gives you unless you hit the citadel belt or the 50mm nose (which is unlikely unlesss you intentionally do it). To Moskva you could only pen her Superstructure, nose and stern, other than that no. Also, Des Moins can out dpm this thing, it has more guns and better dispersion. Nevsly feels like playing a Hipper at tier 10 with only 8 guns, it is the tier X cruiser with less guns of the entire game.

​@andy Carr You only wont hit maneuvering DD's at range, but everything else is not that hard to hit with DM. In other hand floaty arcs means you can fire from behind islands, plus you have much higher DPM that compensates for the missed shots. You are not forced into open water gunboating with DM.
