Byrd, Very talented, tough, always game. Chris was among the elite class in the heavyweight division. He fought the best... usually smaller than his opponents he was a formidable foe for any in the division. This was a Great contest - in against another elite level fighter and an Olympic gold medalist, Alexander Povetkin. Wow! If you've never heard Byrd in an interview, he's an articulate man, a great credit to the sport of boxing. Yep, I'm a Chris Byrd fan!

Byrd was actually doing all right. Didn’t need to throw in the towel. Chris wasn’t as illusive as he once was. A lot of his effectiveness was dodging those punches and driving the other fighter crazy. He got away from his strengths.

Byrd really has the heart of a champion. He really does. Being a boxing historian i just view Byrd as something other than many might view him. He is overachieving he is not a natural heavyweight and i dont view him as one. Obviously whatever personal reason's for him has him fighting at that weight. But you should certainly take into account that fact before passing judgment on him as a heavyweight. He may even be a natural Light heavyweight. So whatever he achieves as a heavyweight should be viewed as him overachieving his own body limitations. Where as a true Heavyweight should have no excuse's against Byrd other than lack of talent. I'm not saying i'm right or wrong, it's just how i view things.

Also comparing povetkin's prime to byrd's prime, we'd have such a solid fight, that alexander would win but not easily.

Prime Byrd had three fights with the Klitschkos. He won against Vitali due to Vitali's shoulder injury but got absolutely destroyed in the other two fights with the Klitschkos. So how could a prime Byrd beat a prime Povetkin

Chris was only a shadow of his former self here. After the beating he took in the second Wlad Klitschko fight. Povetkin, very accurate against Byrd! I always questioned why Chris slipped to his inside against the straight right hands from his opponents. Ok if it worked, but often he would move right in to a power shot or right hand lead from his opponent!

Поветкин провёл хороший бой против очень сильного противника. Тогда он "двигался в правильном направлении", прогрессировал. Прогрессировал до тех пор, пока не ушёл от "Человека со шрамом". Далее - пошла "чехарда" с тренерами, и было упущено драгоценное время. Жаль, ведь Атлас - реально мог сделать Поветкина чемпионом ... А в данном бою Поветкина секундировал Белов, его первый тренер. Он тоже знал, как надо, но ... его "отжали" от Саши ... Что поделаешь - это "бизнес Большого ринга". Очень "грязный" бизнес ...
