I'm from Canada, and I love Shawn Mendes, he is so talented, but Alexander Rybak is a freakin Genious! I just discovered him on youtube, and I can't stop listening to him. Also go to his violin video's, incredible. Makes me want to learn to play, but let's just say that's impossible. I thought Alexander was very polite and respectful, being the bigger talent.

I love Alexander and Shawn. Shawn clearly didn't know who Alexander was/is and if you're an American or Canadian who doesn't follow Eurovision, that's expected. I think Shawn tried to pay a compliment to Alexander and it hurt more than it helped almost like a pity recognition. Then Alexander tried to pay Shawn a compliment but realized he was completely getting thrown aside in his own country over Shawn and he handed him a very backhanded compliment and it all just seemed very awkward to watch. Regardless this was so long ago and they're still both so talented.

they really should have treated Alexander Rybak equally. I remember him from ESC, since I'm from Austria. But it was awkward when the guy just gave him the triangle and just before handing it over asking Shawn Mendes what it's called. My point is, it's degrading to give a talented a triangle and that not enough, he also doesn't trust in Alex what this is called but has to ask Shawn... We european countries should respect our own artists a bit more. The fact that Shawn Mendes is so famous is not because he's so extremely well singing, but he's commercialised due to the fact he's young, good looking and from an english speaking country.
