You are wrong this time miss. Alaxander's invasion was the key incident that forced Chanakya to visit Magadha. He told Dhana-Nanda that a foreign force named "Alakshyendra" (one with no goal) is invading the Indian subcontinent and Magadha needs to send an army. Dhana-nanda then humiliated him infront of everyone after which he swore he would dethrone Dhana-nanda. Chanakya then trained Chandragupta Maurya and while in his training he sent him to Alaxander's army as a spy/convoy. He told the Greeks about the river Ganga that is twice as wide and thrice as deep as Hydespas (Jhelum) and and an army 20 times as large as that of Porus's army with over 4000 elephants. This frightened the Greeks so much that they mutined against Alaxander and forced him to go back. This is recorded in both Mudrarakshasa, a sanskrit play about Chanakya's strategic dethronement of DhanaNanda and in Greek records where young Chandragupta is mentioned as Sandrosottus. He is also mentioned to have married princess Helena, the daughter of Selucus Nicator I. He gifted them 600 elephants during the wedding, thus proving his claims to be true. In reality, Magadha army was not going to fight because Dhana Nanda spent his time in leisure. But the rumour spread by Chanakya sure managed to shoo them away. P.S. the real name of Porus is Maharaja Parmananda Katoch of the Katoch dynasty. Please read history before spreading misinformation.

Porus wasn't a small king, Alexander won a narrow victory. His beloved horse was killed and he too was severely injured in the battle. He turned back because of some reasons 1 The climate of India specifically The Monsoon, it was the worst nightmare for the Greeks. 2 Mutiny in his army. His soldiers were too tired to carry on. 3 Chandragupta Maurya, his army was far greater than Alexander and he was a good general as compared to those who faced Alexander. These are some possible reasons in my mind if there are more please tell me.

1. Well an army who could stand in deserts of iran/persia can't stand in the fields of plains? Cuz ? Of rain? 2. Soldiers don't just fight one after another... They stay.. get stable n then get in another fight... So the kingdom that Alexander's army just won doesn't have enough food n shelter to repair the army? 3. Well Magadh kingdom was well known in west.. regardless of this Alexander made through all wars n reach there and chose to not to fight? How could even be the case... Feel free to add your points

@@captainvenom7252 1. Tropical climate brings more diseases, most of which would be totally unknown to the Greeks and they wouldn't even have the necessary immunities. In desert you just need water and food supply. And Persia isn't exactly a large desert like Arabia and had masses of civilised settlements where the army could resupply. 2. The mutinies happened in the back ranks, in present day Afghanistan and Western Pakistan. Not in the army he was commanding. He had to turn back so that his supply line doesn't get fucked. Any half competent general would prioritise that. 3. Alexander just barely survived his first encounter with elephants. And Nanda (Chandragupta wasn't yet there) had way more of them than Porus, who indeed ruled a much smaller kingdom. Proper intel on things like that was possible only in close proximity.

Alexander the Great encountered resistance and faced significant challenges during his campaign in India, leading to some setbacks and losses.Battle of the Hydaspes (326 BCE):Encounter with Porus: One of Alexander's major encounters in India was with King Porus, the ruler of the region along the Hydaspes River (modern-day Jhelum River in Pakistan). Porus had a sizable army and a force of war elephants, which presented a formidable challenge to Alexander's forces.Strategic Brilliance: Despite being outnumbered and facing a well-defended position, Alexander employed strategic maneuvers to defeat Porus. He surprised Porus by crossing the river upstream during a stormy night, circumventing Porus's defenses and catching him off guard.Tough Resistance: The Battle of the Hydaspes was fierce, and Porus and his troops fought valiantly against Alexander's forces. However, despite their resistance, Alexander's superior tactics and the morale of his soldiers eventually led to Porus's defeat.Beyond the Hydaspes:Further Conquests: After defeating Porus, Alexander continued his campaign eastward, crossing the Beas River and reaching the edge of the Indian subcontinent. He wanted to continue his conquests into the Ganges River valley, but his troops, weary from years of campaigning, refused to go further.Mutiny and Return: Alexander's soldiers mutinied, expressing their desire to return westward. Reluctantly, Alexander agreed to turn back, and he began the journey back to Mesopotamia. His return journey was marked by hardships and battles with local tribes, but he eventually reached Babylon, where he died in 323 BCE.Legacy:Impact of Alexander's Campaign: While Alexander's campaign in India did not result in the complete conquest of the region, it had lasting effects on the cultural and political landscape of South Asia. Greek influences, such as Hellenistic art and architectural styles, spread to regions that Alexander had conquered, including parts of northwestern India.

The reason why india didn't record these events was because porus lost and secondly alexander did not wanted to go home but was made by his generals to do so because after their encounter with elephants their resources were depleted and they were afraid that their might be even more kingdom's with armies containing even more elephants so they just didn't want face that if alexander did move forward he would surely have lost but alexander did infact defeated porus and their is no denying it .

This is what Greeks told you 😂 people who lost tried to glorify their one and only king.. if he had won he could have stayed there and succeeded further in india . Plus there was a war losing note by Alexander. That was the proof that he lost war against king porus . European always tried to suppress our rich culture and history and wrote each and every fake story they could against us. There is zero proof and even zero reasoning that Alexander won and there is 100s of reasoning why porus won

So there should atleast be a mention of porus and Alexander if they were so important, if the battle of hydapses was the only thing that was not mentioned and if porus and Alexander were atleast mentioned in indian records we could argue that indians were embarrassed of their defeat and were not willing to write about this war ,but there is no mention of porus and Alexander at all ,we have no information about porus apart from the greek records,we don't have records of any of previous battles about his kingdom or reign in indian records,so it means that he was not a very important ruler and slso there were no mentions of Alexander, but repeated mentions of selucus nicator.if indians were so insecure of their defeat they would have atleast written their pov of their history or would have portrayed Alexander In a negative way,but there no mention of Porus and Alexander AT ALL,which means they were not considered important and greek might might exaggerated the size of porus's kingdom and army.

You do realise Alexander and the army didn't leave straight after the battle with Porus, right? His army travelled south and won more battles and founded new cities, including Bucephalia, in honour of his horse. They followed the Indus River, all the way to the Arabian Sea, built over 1000 ships to transport riches back to Babylon, and lost many men in the Gedrosian desert.

What is her point? The battle of Hydaspes happened. The Greek source Arrian who got his work from two eye witnesses mentions the Battle of Hydaspes and how Alexander the Great won. Alexander's men continued to campaign further East after the Battle of Hydaspes. They besieged the city Sagala and King Porus assisted Alexander by giving him 5,000 Indian soldiers. Alexander the Great's men mutinied because they were burned out. It had been years since they had been home. It had been years since they'd last seen they're families. They had been fighting for over a decade. The reason why they mutinied is because they were so worn out and just so exhausted from such a long time of war and conquests, not because they just barely won the Battle of Hydaspes and they thought, "That's what it's going to be like fighting in India". That's why people who say Porus really won because he made Alexander's men want to turn back are wrong.

So....Alexander the Great comes to India, beats Porus in battle but is so impressed and respects him so much that he let him keep his kingdom even after defeat and she sees this as a terrible lie told by the Greeks.....honestly i think that is so wholesome. Out of all his Opponents Alexander found a King who fought with all his soul, courage and decided that such a man was worthy enough to continue ruling his kingdom. That in my opinion is incredible and the story i choose to believe ❤

I genuinely believe his attack was considered a minor disturbance. In the same Greek history it was written Porus became a friend and advised Alexander about Dhanananda. It was mainly his description of the mighty magadhan millitary that accelerated the mutiny in the Greek camp. However people forget that Porus also gave information about the current political and social climate of Magadha. He said Dhanananda was a tyrant and the common people were sick and tired of him and that indeed rebellions were breaking out in parts of the empire. Dhanananda was actually struggling to control it and then we all know how Chandragupta Maurya burst into the scene. Now for a moment just imagine yourself as a learned scholar of the empire who mainly sits at Taxila but also travels throughout the country to record history. You tell me which incident will have you pre occupied? The one happening at the fringes or the instability that was brewing up in the heartland of India.

That's not what I learned at all. As far as I know, he defeated that king and went to march further in. His soldiers, who had been conquering for like 20 years, refused and alexander was forced to go back home. He then decided to march his army back to Babylon through a desert that killed a large chunk of his army via thirst and hunger. Once he and his army reached Babylon, a massive party was thrown and then he died of either poisoning or alcohol poisoning. Legend has it when his generals asked about the successor, he replied "the strongest"

As per Greek records. The military reason for his return was that, in this battle, the presumed to be invisible phalanx formation was very less effective against Elephant forces. And their entire strategy of fighting any Indian force was highly dependent on mercenaries of mounted archers. Which was both expensive & unreliable.

I'm glad people are not straight up believing her, and actually disagreeing. As good as the story sounds to Indian ears, the facts are facts. As far as the battle is concerned, Porus was indeed defeated. Alexander had a habit of reinstating the defeated kings as his subordinates. He did the same thing here and appointed Porus as his subordinate king. Alexander, however, had to face fierce opposition from smaller kingdoms in the vicinity. He himself was wounded in one such battle. He had to return due his army being very tired and could have mutinied.

I have read in some book that after the war with Porus. Alexander's soldiers came to know that this is just the beginning and there is some kingdom(Magadh kingdom) in the east which has a huge huge army of not just foot soldiers but also of elephants and horses. Soldiers were too afraid to go further and gave up and decided to go back.
