Excellent video! About 10 years ago I was traveling through India with a group. A very close friend and I found a very nice copy of the Kama Sutra in a bookstore at an airport. We bought it without telling anyone. We started reading it together, and as we went page by page we were fascinated by all the topics that it covers. Mostly, the role of women and the level of autonomy the treatise gives to women in society. When we finished reading the book we were in awe by the depth of the treatise, and we both thought: What happened in Indian society, why all of this has been forgotten and why women are not respected and valued? It was a true culture shock.

We Indian have a rich culture and our philosophy talk about total Human development. But Indian do not recognise it and even ignore it. We are following western culture after having such a rich culture.. So unfortunate for us. Indian government should take measures to restore our culture which we are forgetting day by day .

The reason why this younger generation is leaving Indian culture is because of its outdated lifestyle. Indian culture lacks freedom compared to the Western one. Also the Western culture drastically changes according to time, but Indian culture is still stuck in the past. Who wants to live in a past culture when you have a present culture?.
@gowthamrandhi90273 ай бұрын
@@syamalaustinethekkedath I implore you to think it through, are the people outdated or the culture, our culture has already touched and explored and made philosophical texts on taboo topics like sex, war, love and death. Is this really an outdated culture. This cultre dosen't follow time, but rather tries to build one, a world of peace and tranquility, accepting ones own losses and downs but also working hard, devoloping but also knowing and understading his own karma and balancing every aspect of his live as well as his family. @@syamalaustinethekkedath it’s not about outdated or that westerners has culture that evolves. The westerners I.e. the Britishers during the colonial era has intentionally interpreted our cultural scriptures in a negative way by highlighting some phrases in those scriptures without conceiving the whole point of context and consistently educated us that they r the greats and we r far less than them. If one doesn’t take pride about his own culture that will die even if that culture is rich and modernised. I personally feel that the Indian culture is rich and better than most of the culture in this world. When westerners were barbaric we had the best philosophers, astronomers and far more better than the westerners. If British wouldn’t have ruled us, then the most discoveries abt the astronomy wouldn’t be in the name of the foreigners, u sure accept that when whole world was thinking that earth is the centre of the solar system and it is flat, we know that it is spherical and revolves arnd sun and know abt the other planets too and we would have been much powerful. The westerners has imparted the mindset in us that we r poor in culture than them but it is not true. And regarding the freedom part, freedom without limitation would lead to chaos and not harmony.

I was inquisitively asking about the significance of carvings and what are they trying to depict . There was one part of the wall of temple which was portraying kamasutra. This definitely made me think that the taboo we consider right know was not the same in the ancient civilisation. They would definitely be considering it as an auspicious union of energy giving birth to life , that's the reason them being giving kamsutra a place in temple where even small childs would be visiting. The Kama Sutra, an ancient Indian Hindu text written in Sanskrit, mentions 64 different sexual positions. While it is known in Western culture primarily for its detailed descriptions of sexual positions, the Kama Sutra is actually a philosophical work that covers a wide range of topics related to love, relationships, family life, and the art of living well. The sexual positions described in the text are meant to provide guidance on how to embrace, where each partner stands, sits or lies, where to put or pull legs, knees, chest and arms, and which positions are best for giving and receiving pleasure. The Kama Sutra has endured as a source of erotic pleasure for centuries, with some positions being surprisingly simple while others are more advanced.

DHARMA ,ARTHA, KAMA AND MOKSHA, are purushartha. As per Indian customs & beliefs' attaining MOKSHA is supreme. we have to see KAMA in a broader sense. It is not S*x .It is desire, wants etc. well explained.

I am not Indian. But I like history, all history...and I NEVER trust a 'foreigners' account of any ancient history or culture because I fear it is tainted by the British telling of that history or the story of that culture.
