Do you not understand that Oreshnik is a solution to a problem: "How do I hit far, hard and precisely and do not escalate to Nuclear?". The point is that Russia does not need to go nuclear if it can hit any air field, any carrier, any fortified base, any target it chooses - precisely, quickly and with no chance of being stopped. THAT is the point of the system. Before Oreshnik, one would need to use tactical nukes for those purposes and that could quickly escalate into a full-on nuclear exchange. Now they a different option. After 24 h of this, if you endure that much, when you finally get back into your warm room and start feeling your limbs and had some proper food and water, remember that no one was shooting at you or you were under artillery fire, your life was not in danger, and you could decide to stop the whole thing any time you wanted. Men in those trenches can't. If everyone would do this for 24 h once per year, there would be less thoughts of war and destruction and people would have more empathy and understanding. They would be disgust by very thought thinking back on that day and night they had to endure even a small percentage of that feeling.

US fracking oil and gas is expected to peak next year and decline very rapidly from then on. That will mean a double whammy to Europe. Those companies that fled to the USA will have to consider fleeing again as energy prices there start to make them uncompetitive again. Europe will be isolated and very much poorer.

@@michaelkatz275 Individual fracking wells have a lifespan of around 18 months. They can produce for several years after but at such low levels it’s not economical. They only maintain production by lots of new wells being drilled. Now that is getting cheaper but when the oil runs out the operators face the double whammy of no oil so even drilling new wells doesn’t help, plus they have to pay off the loans on the previous drilling.

No. Actually there is a reverse mode installed from Slovakia to Ukraine since the first gas crisis in 2006. This reverse mode can be turned on once the standard flow stops. However, since the Ukrainian steps are seen as hostile from the Slovak point of view, I doubt Slovakia would allow reverse gas transit to Ukraine.
