Because Jimin is also a contemporary dancer, he doesn’t like to wear shoes when he dances (you’ll sometimes see him in practices of other choreo without shoes). Naturally, he wanted to dance this song without shoes and so the rest of the boys followed his lead (also for uniformity) because this is very artistic/contemporary choreo.

That On video of Jimin and JK dancing barefoot was badass. As an ex dancer - modern and contemporary my focus - my feet hurt watching it 🤣 I remember seeing some footage of JK blaming Jimin for it 🤣

This choreo is JIMIN CODED. RM said when u talk about BLACKSWAN u remember Jimin. He is the black swan, he sprouted wings.

yes that was Jimin using his Contemporary dancing skills. Oh yes they are based in Hip Hop and R & B. The song is about the Fear of losing their passion for their art eg Singing Rappping Dancing, song writing, composing, producing even going up on stage. There's a famous quote by a famous Dancer Martha Graham 'A Dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death.' The Shadow at the end is that fear but they conquer it this is shown by the huge 'Shadow' falling down to nothing. Shadow is from Psychology and represents the part of the mind were our fears and darkest thoughts are stored. They are dancing a real wood floor stage in a real Theatre. Contemporary Dancers do dance bare foot when they want to.

The choreo has some elements of contemporary dance, and that is best performed with bare feet. Since contemporary dance is also about expressiveness, Jimin is in his forte here. JK said that the group is so fortunate to have someone with Jimin's dance background in it.

This MV requires multiple views to catch all the details, especially the shadows in the background. There are several behind the scenes videos on BangtanTV. When Jin is in front of the mirrors, he turns but the reflection doesn't change. And the stage performance of this in concerts is beyond amazing with a large number of dancers representing the swan with feather covered arms - so stunning and creative (kudos to the choreographer!).

It’s great that you guys watch the choreography videos too. Love it! My favorite. They’re too good. And it lets us fully enjoy the choreography since mv cuts in and out plus many times you’ll see the choreography for live performance so there’s more. And since you go us love this song, you should catch them perform it during their last concert I think in Vegas, so elaborate and beautiful.

Jimin own Black Swan he ate that up. And you right with the choreography, it’s more technical and detailed. As you can see they are dancing a contemporary choreography in a theater or opera, this MV gives me an elegant French theater vibe. I would say you are both right about the choreography. They did go backwards in the end and then being performers on a stage and at the end of the performance they look like puppets that have just been hung up. Maybe no longer in use or performing ie the performers first death (which is what the song is about). Then on top of that a lot of the dance moves represent the black swan. The "dov your thang" move is very much like a swan's wings. Thanks for your reaction! The performances are also really artistic and you can see the swan come up in a lot of them.

you can’t notice some of the choreo if the MV doesn’t show it all because obviously there are cuts and showing members singing their parts instead of the choreography.

15:21 Nia was right, but they do have performances of this song where they actually form a swan together. BTW, there were lots of references to the movie Black Swan. Also, the topic has to do with a quote by a famous dancer, who said sth like: "A dancer dies twice; the first time when they can no longer dance, and this death is more painful.'

This is my favorite BTS song and MV. I like a lot of their music but this hits extra for me. I share it with a wide range of reactors, and everyone loves it. Artistically created by the members themselves. SUGA and Jhope are two of my favorite artists and I recommend their solo work as well. 🖤✨️

Black Swan is one of my favorite performances. As a boomer, not one of my favorite sounds. Love the lyrics and what it is about. And yes, the choreo represents swans.
