Looking straight into the mirror has been the absolute best advice I’ve ever received for my winged liner maybe for my makeup period, cause like you, I don’t have hooded eyes but my upper lid does exactly the same thing. My liner has never looked better.
@palestar8282 жыл бұрын
You're lucky that you don't have hooded eyes. I can't do any beautiful looks like cut creases because my eyes are so ugly and hooded. One eyeshadow color and that's it. I've had literal breakdowns over my hooded eyes and the fact that everyone else can do amazing eye looks. It works have been a hobby of mine, but obviously God/the universe/whatever was telling me with my hooded eyes, that's not my hobby in life, obviously. I have about 200 screenshots on my phone of beautiful eye looks and I need to delete them because I don't think that I can do three of them. Surgery to fix my eyes would be outrageously expensive

Getting older is such an interesting journey... I'm 54 now, and almost every year I have to learn entirely new ways to do my makeup as my face shape changes. This is by far the must useful tutorial I've seen that not only helps beautiful young faces with hooded eyes, but also older faces who are having to deal with eyes that are getting more hooded by the day! Thank you, I can't wait to get all dressed up and try this. I usually just stop my eyeliner and blend in at the end of my eyelid because I just haven't found a way to make wings look ok until now :)
@skincarewithaustin2 жыл бұрын
This is one of the best tips I’ve seen when doing this technique: Initially, smile a huge, cheeky grin that involves your eyes, and use a light brown shadow on a liner brush to mark a point higher than where your cheek pushes up your outer lower lid into your upper, hooded lid (but without raising your eyebrows). *This is the benchmark of where your liner shouldn’t fall under.* As you emote, it ensures the liner always maintains an upward swept appearance to the eye instead of pulling it down.

For such a stunningly beautiful woman this presenter has a calming yet no nonsense skill, no conceit in it, it is IDEAL for anyone (esp those of us who hate vocal fry on so many youtubers.) Maybe it's the musician in me but people discount just how important a good voice is. And seriously she does explain stuff really well, for a makeup dummy like myself.

I used to be a pro at winged liner. Like, I could do it while driving & barely looking. That was 10 years ago… I stopped wearing makeup for awhile & stopped wearing winged liner. But lately I’ve been trying to get back into wearing makeup. I went to do my old look & I couldn’t do it. Bc my eyes have also changed. Same as you. I was so upset bc I I love that look.. but the older I get the more “hooded” my eyes get…. When I saw all of these other tutorials the eyeliner always looked like it was just too much.. more than I normally would wear for everyday. Too glam. But this look could go both ways. I love this. Thank you for posting this bc you have no idea how much this has messed w/ me! I know it’s stupid. I’m getting older. But I’m not old. But it’s made me consider Botox & it’s made me start looking at myself differently… like, I don’t feel older. I don’t look older. But I am getting older & it’s nice to know that I’m not alone & that we aren’t OLD! So hearing you say this made me feel so much better about myself. I’ve never been one to care too much about aging or wrinkles or whatever. But for some reason this eye thing has really messed w/ me. I decided against Botox bc I don’t want any needles near my eyes & I have an addictive personality so I don’t really want to start down that path. But this tutorial has really helped me not just do my makeup similar to how I used to.. but helped me see that aging doesn’t mean old & all of us are aging everyday! So thanks dude.

Love this and your videos! you can do a thin one too by keeping your eye open the whole time - draw the thin wing how you want it to look, then close the lid and gently fill in the gap. It will look more bat-wing like when the eye is closed but is a cool graphic look, and perfect when the eye is open.
