I am a retired, early senior, and enjoy your station. Although you appear to be tailoring your videos more to your own demographic, I realized today (as I relax in Morocco) that many senior women have the same budget and decorating issues: smaller incomes and a lot of things that we want to display as we move into downsized spaces. (However, for myself, my days of using pink are some decades ago.) I would like to see you broaden your own demographics by talking about the differences in what paint colors that could be used that may be more attractive to older women. I use a very warm grey, that goes with any grey, taupe, etc. You might look for a taupe-y grey, a lush navy and warm medium green to recommend as an alternative to your viewers. Also, the issue for downsizing is not thrifting something new, it is picking the right pieces to keep. I recently moved from a larger home to a studio apartment: downsizing to something more manageable. I needed, however, a lot of storage so that I could keep more of the things collected from a lifetime. So, I either left, sold or gave away most of my furniture and purchased IKEA (the best flat-pack furniture I have found) bedroom furniture. I have a lot of original art that fills the walls that have been purchased over the years. It is colorful and busy, so I chose Malmo, which you chose for this pink bedroom. I used the nightstand, although in the black-brown, the bed that lifts for storage, and four of the six-drawer dressers; the low profile helps to open up a small busy space. One of the 6-drawer dresses was used as a divider between the bedroom and living area and the remaining three I lined up along the longest wall end-to-end and looks like they are one installed piece; these house everything from dining linens, travel accessories and electronics. If you can envision this layout, you might see that our styles are not very different, I’m just a grandmother. Congratulations on your station and success. I can see your growth and development and applaud you highlighting other working women in your programs. Just consider giving a few tips regarding color changes (your choice of other great colors, like picking that fabulous pink from Benjamin Moore) on your makeover videos that could expand your audience from a younger demographic to include many more seniors. I look forward to seeing your LA programs.

Just a note about colors in a bedroom, since as we age our skin can have imperfections , I find that colors like pinks make skin look better. Blue would make varicose veins more apparent for example.

Loved this makeover, I love that if you have space above a doorway or closet you can hang a shelf, it is space that often gets overlooked. The whole room does look more open and better organized, I am in the process of doing the exact same thing, and having a floor length mirror in your bedroom it has to be placed in the right spot, because it is bad feng shui to have mirrors in the wrong places. I love the color pink and if it fit in my bedroom would use it, but my favorite color is purple so I have been using purples and reds and bits of pinks, and will be painting my walls a soft white to blend with the different shades of purples, and maybe I could paint one of the walls a soft pink. Thanks Alexandra, this was a fun makeover.

In the first 3 minutes of this video, I am inundated with HOW excited you are to update this room! I think i would have moved her bed slightly over towards the wardrobes so she could stand at her windows and be able to walk about . two bedside tables and a headboard of some kind, would have softened the room more. SO excited again at 5.15 ( edit please ) the set of drawers are beautiful and very stylish .At 6.45 again with the excitement ? I lie the overhead shelf idea , you could have added led lights in the shape of either plantlife or chinese lanterns.At 13.28 again SO EXCITED ( scream). I agree with Susan Gill, that a mirror IS needed , even if its just to bounce light around . I did a thumbs up , because your client was very happy .

"old" furniture is usually much better constructed than fast furniture, tho
@undomiel1520034 жыл бұрын
True, but a lot of people hate the idea of having old furniture which belonged to someone else before them, and many more just do not like old styles, they only like modern lines. We are all different.
@mhurtou4 жыл бұрын
undomiel152003 Old furniture has modern lines. It’s what IKEA is copying. Look up mid-century modern or Art Deco. Modern is not a new concept.
@undomiel1520034 жыл бұрын
@@mhurtou Let me put it this way, in the 60's my parents living room and dining room were the new Danish style of the times. I was not even in my teens yet. I know, I am that old. Everything new is an old style which has been tweaked from the past. What I am saying is, many younger people do no want something which has belonged to someone else in the past, it is not just the style they do not like. Look at the many hipsters of today with their 50's mid century furniture, many of them, the real thing, old. But not all young people like having old stuff. It is like they are afraid the furniture comes with ghosts or smells or something.

Wondered if she needed sheer curtains for the window but saw she had shades that pulled down. Love what you did with the cork and the earrings and the clear organizers. Love the runner you chose. Tip for hanging earrings with wire hooks: hang them on vintage footed glassware -- fruit compotes, etc. Shallower the better and then the cup part is easy-to-retrieve storage for rings and pins. Looks fun on a dresser top or bathroom counter.
